Bayern Munich 2-1 Chelsea (Agg: 5-1)

A lovely ball over the top by Emerson sends Mason Mount away. He only has Manuel Neuer to beat but the gap between the goalkeeper and the near post is a small one, Mount tries to squeeze it in but Neuer makes the save.

  2. Postpublished at 21:05 British Summer Time 8 August 2020

Bayern Munich 2-1 Chelsea (Agg: 5-1)

Bayern Munich are not letting up as they attack from the outset. Serge Gnabry plays a ball in early from the right, looking for Ivan Perisic, but it is just a bit too close to Willy Caballero.

Bayern Munich 2-1 Chelsea (Agg: 5-1)

Kiran E: Barcelona play good football but the constant intimidation of referees every time they blow the whistle against them will always be a stain on their reputation. All their players do it, seems ingrained in the club.

Wayne Ellis: Sign of the times that Neuer is now Bayern’s weak link.

There were five goals in the 30 minutes after I described tonight's games as being "a little bit flat"...

  6. HALF-TIMEpublished at 20:54 British Summer Time 8 August 2020

    Barcelona 3-1 Napoli (Agg: 4-2)

That late penalty for Napoli gives them hope for the second half.

  7. goal

GOAL - Barcelona 3-1 Napoli (Agg: 4-2)published at 20:52 British Summer Time 8 August 2020

    Lorenzo Insigne pen (45 mins)

Lorenzo Insigne steps up to sweep the spot kick beyond Marc-Andre ter Stegen's left and Napoli bring the deficit down to two.

There's been some well taken penalties tonight.

  8. PENALTY TO NAPOLIpublished at 20:51 British Summer Time 8 August 2020

    Barcelona 3-0 Napoli (Agg: 4-1)

Wait! Still time for some drama before the break as Dries Mertens is fouled inside the box and Napoli have a penalty...

  9. goal

GOAL - Barcelona 3-0 Napoli (Agg: 4-1)published at 20:48 British Summer Time 8 August 2020

    Luis Suarez pen (45 mins)

    Up there with Robert Lewandowski's!

Luis Suarez tucks his spot kick into pretty much the same spot as the Bayern Munich striker did against Chelsea but David Ospina dives the wrong way.

Barcelona are firmly on their way to the last eight.

  10. HALF-TIMEpublished at 20:47 British Summer Time 8 August 2020

Bayern Munich 2-1 Chelsea (Agg: 5-1)

  11. PENALTY TO BARCELONApublished at 20:47 British Summer Time 8 August 2020

    Barcelona 2-0 Napoli (Agg: 3-1)

After a long, long, long, long, long VAR check, Barcelona are awarded a penalty for that foul by Kalidou Koulibaly on Lionel Messi.

  12. goal

GOAL - Bayern Munich 2-1 Chelsea (Agg: 5-1)published at 20:44 British Summer Time 8 August 2020

    Tammy Abraham (45 mins)

    Back in it!?

Terrible mistake by Manuel Neuer as he pushes a tame Emerson cross into Tammy Abraham's path and the striker makes no mistake from close range.

The faintest glimmer of hope for the visitors just before half time.

  13. PENALTY APPEALpublished at 20:43 British Summer Time 8 August 2020

    Barcelona 2-0 Napoli (Agg: 3-1)

Lionel Messi nips in to try and pinch the ball from Kalidou Koulibaly inside the Napoli box, Koulibaly does not see the Barcelona forward and hits him full force on the back of the leg with his boot as he tries to clear.

The referee says no penalty, but VAR is having a check.

  14. Postpublished at 20:42 British Summer Time 8 August 2020

    Barcelona 2-0 Napoli (Agg: 3-1)

It is a shame that Lionel Messi goal was ruled out as it really was a lovely move. The hosts are looking at their attacking best at the moment, passing quickly and confidently and always looking for openings. They are not done scoring yet.

  15. Postpublished at 20:39 British Summer Time 8 August 2020

Bayern Munich 2-0 Chelsea (Agg: 5-0)

Tammy Abraham races forward to get to the ball first on the right side of the Bayern box, he whips in a cross that Jerome Boateng casually sidefoots back to Manuel Neuer. Cool as you like.

  16. Postpublished at 20:37 British Summer Time 8 August 2020

Right, can no-one score, have a decent shot and can the VAR people bob out for a brew for a couple of minutes so my typing fingers can have a bit of a rest. It has been relentless the last few minutes!

  17. DISALLOWED GOALpublished at 20:35 British Summer Time 8 August 2020

    Barcelona 2-0 Napoli (Agg: 3-1)

    Soz Messi but no goal.

The Barcelona forward is deemed to have handled the ball as he brought it under control.

  18. VAR

Video Assistant Refereepublished at 20:33 British Summer Time 8 August 2020

    Barcelona 3-0 Napoli (Agg: 4-1)

Although, hang on Messi, VAR is having a check...

  19. goal

GOAL - Barcelona 3-0 Napoli (Agg: 4-1)published at 20:33 British Summer Time 8 August 2020

    Lionel Messi

That's surely Barcelona through and it is Lionel Messi again.

Lusi Suarez's shot is batted away by the goalkeeper but Ivan Rakitic is there to the loose ball and clips to the far post for Lionel Messi, who chests down and smashes home.

  20. DISALLOWED GOALpublished at 20:30 British Summer Time 8 August 2020

Bayern Munich 2-0 Chelsea (Agg: 5-0)

The goal has been wiped out by the video assistant referee.

Such a shame for Callum Hudson-Odoi as it really was a great strike but it has been wiped out for an apparent offside by Tammy Abraham in the build up.
