    Man City 0-0 Lyon

That should have been the opener!

Raheem Sterling is fed in by Joao Cancelo on the left who then tries to find Gabriel Jesus, in front of goal, with a square pass.

The ball is poked away by Marcal in the nick of time.

Lyon made a good start, they're pressing.

I thought they'd let Man City come to the half-way line before doing that but that's not the case.

We are under way at the Estadio Jose Alvalade.

It's another pleasant evening in Lisbon - about 22C. Only three degrees warmer than Salford, mind you.

And for the final time we hear the Champions League anthem blurt out in front of a handful of people during a quarter-final in Lisbon in 2020.

    Sad times.

I'd like to say the players look up for it, but they're probably thinking this experience is strange.

On whether the pressure is on Pep Guardiola to win the Champions League...

That's what they brought Pep guardiola in for. They always have the chance to win the league or the league cup but to have that tag of greatness they'll all say you've got to win the Champions League.

They've never held back spending money. He's been given whatever he's asked for and he has a great team that's great on the eye.

But they must win the Champions League if we are to say they are the best in Europe - and they haven't won it yet.

Re 19:24 - Ludicrous. Back to back titles, domestic treble, 198 points over two seasons, countless records broken - think most City fans will be happy for us to keep underachieving like that

    Daniel

People are talking a lot about Bayern's demolition job of Barcelona last night. But that was only Barcelona in name. Worst Barca team for a long time. In La Liga too. It had been coming. City v Bayern would be a different game altogether

Fletch Fletcher:This Man City team looks more like a 352 formation than a 433... Dinho as the 3rd centerback with Walker and Joao as wingbacks and Sterling and Jesus up top. Another Pep tactical masterclass incoming?

On Manchester City's possible weaknesses against Lyon...

Football-wise, you know Manchester City will dominate the ball. They always do.

But it's when they start throwing their full-backs forward and lose the ball in silly areas that they get exploited down the sides.

Personally, for me, next season, I would play Kyle Walker as a centre-half in a two or a three-man defence. He's a very good full-back but he's getting to an age now where he could play as a centre-back.

He's strong enough, he's quick enough, he reads teh game well. I think he's ready now to play in that role.

  13. 'You will see after five minutes'published at 19:47 British Summer Time 15 August 2020

Man City v Lyon (20:00 BST)

    Manchester City

Manchester City manager Pep Guardiola is asked by BT Sport what formation they are going to play tonight.

"You will see after five minutes," he said.

On his team selection he says Eric Garcia "has the specific qualiites we need tonight" and Joao Cancel is "so aggressive".

"Lyon are so aggressive" too, he said. "They win duels."

  14. Might this be Silva's last game?published at 19:45 British Summer Time 15 August 2020

Midfielder David Silva, the mercurial genius who has been with City since 2010, could be set to play his last match for the men in blue.

The 34-year-old is set to leave the club having played his last Premier League match - but his next destination remains unknown.

Here's Guardiola on his veteran soldier:

"He's absolutely prepared. The way he trains, his personality... It's a shame that his last Etihad game was without people, but he will come back (for a farewell) when people can be there, he will get what he deserves."

  15. 'Garcia took time to get Lyon going'published at 19:42 British Summer Time 15 August 2020

Man City v Lyon (20:00 BST)

    Julien Laurens
French football expert on BBC Radio 5 live

On why Lyon fell short of the European places in Ligue 1 this season...

They brought in former Arsenal left-back Sylvinho as their new manager, who had never managed before and he was a disaster. He was sacked in October. Lyon never sack their managers in the middle of a season, so it must've been really bad for them to decide to sack him.

Then they brought in Rudi Garcia, who was really unpopular coming from Marseille, and the atmosphere was quite toxic when he arrived.

He needed a lot of time to get going and when they eventually got going, it was too late before the season was ended.

Before writing Lyon off, let's remember that they beat a very strong Juventus side in the last round. Don't expect a repeat of last nights cricket score!

    Arnold Prendiville, London

I'm a Lyon fan living in Manchester.. I really think we will surprise people tonight.

    Remi Sheridan

Referring to the comment from Chris at 19:24. Even if we don't win the champions league, pep should not be sacked. Look at everything else he has done, the other trophies and what he has done with foden, sterling etc.

Maxwel Cornet: a left-sided player who scored three goals in two games against City last season. Will he play as wing-back or further forward?

Houssem Aouar: the midfielder looked dangerous against Juventus and won the penalty from which Memphis Depay scored in the second leg of their last-16 encounter.

Bruno Guimaraes: if anyone can upset the rhythm of Kevin de Bruyne in midfield it might be this 22-year-old Brazilian - he will sit in front of the Lyon defence and won't give City's players any respite.

  18. Eye on Depaypublished at 19:37 British Summer Time 15 August 2020

Lyon's success in Lisbon may depend upon at what level former Manchester United midfielder Memphis Depay can reach.

The Dutchman, 26, has scored six goals in the competition this season but suffered a cruciate injury in December. However, he used lockdown to fully recover and scored a Panenka penalty to help Lyon overcome Juve on aggregate last month.

Sporting director Juninho said "The players know we have a talented team but that before they were not playing well together.

"But with the right mentality they can do great things."

  19. 'The matches have showed that the big teams can be scared - Garciapublished at 19:33 British Summer Time 15 August 2020

Coach Rudi Garcia did not have the most memorable domestic season, although it was curtailed because of the coronavirus. His side finished seventh when the campaign ended in March - 28 points behind PSG and 16 points second-placed Marseille.

They have shone in Europe though - and the victory over Cristiano Ronaldo's Juventus boosted their spirits. It's a 'no fear' attitude in the camp.

    Here's Rudi:

"That win gave us more confidence. We want to stay a long time in Lisbon even if we know that City remain the big favourites in this match.

"The first quarter-finals have showed that the big teams can be scared. I hope that will continue on Saturday."

On taking four points in the group matches against City last season:

"It was wonderful what they did back then but now it's another moment, and a knockout game. It shows that no game is lost.

"One of the keys is to keep the ball and to score. We are a team capable of doing that. We must also be more dangerous up front."

Kris Jefferson: Surprised slightly by the City team selection, seems a little negative. Would have liked to see Bernardo Silva in for Gundogan or Rodri. But then again, I'm not the one paid millions to make these selections!
