Gareth Bale's Real Madrid career is not coming to a clever end for anyone concerned is it. I wonder what his next move may be - may as well retire.

Big news from Zinedine Zidane in his press conference this evening.

He has revealed Gareth Bale decided not to travel to Manchester for tomorrow night's Champions League encounter with City.

He said Bale was fit but decided not to go to England.

BBC Sport understands the decision was taken because Bale felt there was no chance of playing any part in the game.

A big night for Bobby Allain in the Olympiakos goal.

The 28-year-old has quite an interesting background. French born but of Scottish descent, he had a spell on the books of Scottish side Clyde, having signed for them because he was eager to work with Andy Goram.

Both his parents are deaf and he is fluent in sign language and coaches the French national deaf team's goalkeepers in his spare time.

The Uefa Cup is the best looking trophy in football, there, I've said it.

Will Wolves be in the last eight? A clean sheet will send them through.

Wolves' squad, and the way they play, is perfect for Europe and I hope it's a successful evening.

    Wolves v Olympiakos (Agg: 1-1, 20:00 BST)

Olympiakos have already knocked English opposition out of the Europa League this season, overcoming a first leg defeat to Arsenal in the previous round; Indeed the Greek side will be aiming to reach the quarter finals of a major European competition for the first time since the 1998-99 Champions League campaign.

They were excellent against the Arsenal.

    Wolves v Olympiakos (Agg: 1-1, 20:00 BST)

    Matt Jarvis
Former Wolves & Norwich winger on BBC Radio 5 Live

Wolves have had a few games now in the Premier League without a crowd, so they will be used to it and they know the importance of the game. This is a huge opportunity for Wolves to get through.

Sevilla are 2-0 up in their one-legged tie with half an hour left so it looks like Spanish opposition up next for whoever wins this one...

    Wolves v Olympiakos (Agg: 1-1, 20:00 BST)

    Clinton Morrison
Former Crystal Palace striker on BBC Radio 5 Live

Wolves have been brilliant all season and I would love to see them playing Champions League football.

It will be difficult, I think they will beat Olympiakos tonight but if they get through that then it could be Sevilla or Roma next.

  15. 'Enjoyable for the neutrals'published at 19:13 British Summer Time 6 August 2020

It’s huge for Wolves. It has been such a long season for them but if you are a neutral fan, you have enjoyed watching them this campaign.

Wolves’ Diogo Jota has scored a hat-trick in back-to-back Europa League appearances at Molineux (vs Besiktas & Espanyol) – the last player to score three hat-tricks in a single European season was Cristiano Ronaldo for Real Madrid during the 2015-16 Champions League campaign.

    And he's been benched. Classic.

A handful of fans outside Molineux tonight.

According to the security staff, it is the first time anyone has turned up for a fixture here since the restart in June.

It maybe emphasises the importance of tonight's fixture.

The disappointing last-day defeat at Chelsea, coupled with Arsenal's victory in the FA Cup Final means this tournament offers Wolves their only route back into Europe next season.

If Wolves were to go on and win the Europa League they would reach the Champions League/European Cup for the first time since 1959-60, when they lost 9-2 on aggregate to Barcelona in the quarter-finals.

Winning the Europa League is their only chance of being in Europe next season after a run of two wins in their last six games saw them drop out of the top six in the Premier League.

In their way are Greek side Olympiakos - who knocked Arsenal out in the previous round. Wolves, whose Europa League campaign started more than a year ago , drew the first leg 1-1 in Athens.
