Fulham boss Scott Parker speaking to BBC MOTD: "The big lesson today is to understand the fine margins in this division mean you can get punished. At this level you have to be clinical and make teams pay and on the flip side the first time they get in our box and they score.

"I didn’t like the second half as much. The second goal was a poor goal. At that moment we have to understand how crucial it is and I felt we were a little bit weak and accepted it.

"When you are a team like us that has come from the Championship you can’t let defeat after defeat really cripple you. We are going to lose more than we win but as a team you have to keep learning and developing.

"It has been a quick turnaround for us. We have brought players in that will improve us and hopefully there will be more. We need to get them up to speed quickly."

I think Crystal Palace will stay up this season, purely because of the guidance of Roy Hodgson.

I put the ever-so-exciting Eberechi Eze in my fantasy team even though my gut was telling me that there's no way Roy Hodgson would put him in from the start.

    Should have listened.

Eberechi Eze is going to find it very different - it's a step up for any one coming up to the Premier League. He's got to hit the ground running and add something to the team that they haven't had for a long time.

Really happy with the performance today from Arsenal and the 3 points. I appreciate we were playing Fulham but it is always tricky playing teams that have been promoted to premiership. Excellent debuts to Gabriel and William COYG

    Fiona Scott

Arsenal have beaten Liverpool Manchester Chelsea. Brilliant management from arteta. On this form Arsenal are capable if winning the league. As a Liverpool fan i fancy arsenal. Tough to breakdown and superb on the break.

Scott Parker has got to keep Fulham together. He understands the enormity of the task but he's going to want them to improve. Welcome back to the Premier League.

  7. 'Scoreline kind on Fulham'published at 14:42 British Summer Time 12 September 2020

    Fulham 0-3 Arsenal

I would say that scoreline was a little kind on Fulham.

Arsenal grew and grew and were in total control in the second half and built on their Community Shield win.

This was exactly what Mikel Arteta wanted to see. A reminder, if Scott Parker needed one, that his side really have stepped up a level in terms of competition.

It's only one game of the season but there was a little edge about Arsenal. They've got a little bit of bite there.

Almost time to get the season under way at Selhurst Park, which looks considerably less bright and sunny than the Cottage.

Chris Lord: Only 3 more wins to match our away record from last year. Solid start, bantered for Willian, 2/3 assists on how you look at it, new season and same ol’ Aubameyang! Gabriel solid after the shaky start, looking decent, rightful MOTM. Fully deserved win but early days!

saqub sheikh: An impressive win by Arsenal highlighting their positive development under Arteta continues. A top 4 finish is certainly on this season. Gabriel looks a solid player too.

Paul Bernal: Happiest teams watching today’s game will be Villa and West Brom

    Fulham 0-3 Arsenal

    Arsenal

Arsenal forward Alexandre Lacazette: "It was the best way to start the season. We wanted to win and have a clean sheet and respect what the coach wanted. Everyone is happy.

"He wants us to be perfect. We worked in the week for this kind of game. We have a lot of big ambitions. I want to help the team to be on top I know it is my job.

"I am really happy [at Arsenal]. It is only the press and other people that say I am not. I want to play and win titles. We want to be aggressive with and without the ball and improve every aspect of our game."

It was important that Arsenal got off to a great start. Fulham are always going to overplay and Mikel and his team were always going to play on that. It's a fantastic start to the season for Arsenal.

Crystal Palace v Southampton (15:00 BST)

    Southampton

Southampton won NINE times away from home in the Premier League last season - including a 2-0 success at Palace.

    Will they manage a repeat?

"Palace are not easy to play against as they have an organised defence," says Saints boss Ralph Hasenhuttl.

"We go there with the knowledge of a 2-0 win last season but it's a different challenge now. If we don't turn up we have no chance."

Simon Munnis: I’m an arsenal fan and no way I’m getting too excited after this victory. A game we are expected to win. Promising signs but also shows that we haven’t gone backwards which is a good sign. Tougher tests to come.

Abu: This is why most neutrals would have wanted Brentford to win the play off. Fulham will just do what they usually do..... and go right back down
