"I didn’t like the second half as much. The second goal was a poor goal. At that moment we have to understand how crucial it is and I felt we were a little bit weak and accepted it.

"When you are a team like us that has come from the Championship you can’t let defeat after defeat really cripple you. We are going to lose more than we win but as a team you have to keep learning and developing.

I think Crystal Palace will stay up this season, purely because of the guidance of Roy Hodgson.

I put the ever-so-exciting Eberechi Eze in my fantasy team even though my gut was telling me that there's no way Roy Hodgson would put him in from the start.

I would say that scoreline was a little kind on Fulham.

Arsenal grew and grew and were in total control in the second half and built on their Community Shield win.

This was exactly what Mikel Arteta wanted to see. A reminder, if Scott Parker needed one, that his side really have stepped up a level in terms of competition.

Arsenal forward Alexandre Lacazette: "It was the best way to start the season. We wanted to win and have a clean sheet and respect what the coach wanted. Everyone is happy.

"He wants us to be perfect. We worked in the week for this kind of game. We have a lot of big ambitions. I want to help the team to be on top I know it is my job.

"I am really happy [at Arsenal]. It is only the press and other people that say I am not. I want to play and win titles. We want to be aggressive with and without the ball and improve every aspect of our game."

It was important that Arsenal got off to a great start. Fulham are always going to overplay and Mikel and his team were always going to play on that. It's a fantastic start to the season for Arsenal.

Southampton

Southampton won NINE times away from home in the Premier League last season - including a 2-0 success at Palace.

Will they manage a repeat?

"Palace are not easy to play against as they have an organised defence," says Saints boss Ralph Hasenhuttl.
