Burnley need 2 or 3 additions and the board need to do better in the transfer market. However, the bigger issue is a horrendous injury list. Once Tarkowski, Mee, Cork, Gudmundsson, Brady, Barnes, Rodriguez are available again they will be competitive at this level.

Without some cash and new players Burnley look doomed. Dyche can't keep stretching a single duvet to fit a double bed.

    Burnley 0-1 Southampton

Some stats leave me scratching my head.

Dale Stephens made four tackles in the first half, twice as many as any other player on the pitch.

Is it really normal to go through 45 minutes of Premier League football and only make two tackles, four max?

    Burnley 0-1 Southampton

Much more tempo about Burnley at the start of this half as they nearly get Dwight McNeil in on goal. I wonder what % of half-time team talks contain the words 'move it quicker.'

  5. YELLOW CARDpublished at 50 mins

    Burnley 0-1 Southampton

Phil Bardsley is into the book for catching Moussa Djenepo, who is hurt by that. He'll limp away and should be Ok to carry on.

  6. CLOSE!published at 46 mins

    Burnley 0-1 Southampton

A decent chance straight from the restart as Chris Wood floats a header across goal, Alex McCarthy flies to his left to make a pretty comfortable save but if he hadn't have got there it would have been a tap-in for Matej Vydra. Promising signs for the hosts.

  10. 'Sometimes it defies logic'published at 20:57 British Summer Time 26 September 2020

    Brighton 2-3 Manchester United

    Manchester United

Manchester United manager Ole Gunnar Solskjaer to BBC Sport: "It's just the ups and downs in fotball, sometimes it defies logic and I've never seen a game end like that before. Don't ask me about the ending, I don't think anyone knows the rules now! The handball was before the final whistle and it was a handball.

"I am very pleased with the reaction of our players, it was easy to lie down and take a 2-2 draw. We need to start games better, we were way off, and we were way off last week too. We are catching up.

"My happiness is 10/10 today because of the three points but the performance doesn't get anywhere near a 10 - we all know that."

  11. 'Pressure would have been huge without winner'published at 20:57 British Summer Time 26 September 2020

    Brighton 2-3 Man Utd

    Martin Keown
Former Arsenal defender on Final Score

It is an outstanding result for Manchester United in the end.

They looked desolate. Then to score 10 minutes into what we call 'Fergie time' was remarkable. That's a lovely journey back from Brighton now, which is a long one.

Can you imagine the pressure if they had drawn? It would have been huge.

Not another injury for Burnley surely? Josh Brownhill is down and pained but it's just a dig in the ribs while going up for a header. He'll be OK.

Couldn't agree more with Jim at 20:35. We're so quick to chastise managers week in and week out. Wouldn't it be nice if we put the same energy into delivering praise where it's due. Sean Dyche has worked wonders for Burnley.

Half a chance for Stuart Armstrong as a ball bobbles around in the Burnley area but the Scot can't quite control the ball and it runs away from him.

Robert Kaye: Slaven Bilic - I can't say what I want otherwise I'll be fined. Also Slaven Bilic - Two points were taken from us by VAR.

Mark Burt: Goals goals goals!! The EPL seems to be on a mission to make these strange times bearable. Thank you one and all.
