JHan: Am I alone in thinking that the high number of goals so far this season is partly due to the lack of fans? While missing out on great entertainment, their absence could be taking some pressure off for players, making what would be cagey games a lot more open!

Yves Bissouma steps into a huge gap in midfield and he's teed up from the right. Nobody goes towards him so he's able to get a shot away. It's always rising.

Sam: Did Chelsea insert a buy back clause in the sale of Tariq Lamptey deal. What an exciting player.

    Southampton 2-5 Tottenham

    Southampton

Southampton boss Ralph Hasenhuttl to BBC Sport: "I think we conceded a stupid goal shortly before half-time. Then we had a big chance for 2-1.

"On the counter-attack it’s 1-2. From that our heads are going down and a team with this quality kills you immediately.

"Playing offside all the time doesn’t work because of the rule that the linesman has to keep the flag down. It doesn’t make sense to do it like this.

"It didn’t feel like we were five goals worse than they are."

Allan Saint-Maximin doesn't look like he is moving right. I don't know what is wrong with him. Newcastle need their big players to get into this game.

It's started to settle down a little now. Newcastle are on the ball more. Jonjo Shelvey is fouled but the advantage is played.

Allan Saint-Maximin feeds it through to Callum Wilson. Adam Webster does really well to push him wide.

Sorry Joseph, I'm passing the baton over to Shamoon for that game. I've told him he's got a tough act to follow.

Is there a new rule this season for the abolishment of the defence. What a crazy start to the season.

    David Ashworth

I'm really confused by the new rules. Can someone explain the penalty that Newcastle conceded for me. At no point did the ball touch Saint-Maximin's hand. So how was a penalty given?

  9. 'Kane killed the game'published at 14:19 British Summer Time 20 September 2020

    Southampton 2-5 Tottenham

    Tottenham Hotspur

Spurs manager Jose Mourinho to BBC Sport: “We didn’t start bad at all. In the first 10 or 15 minutes we were good. After that we lost control.

"In the centre of our defensive area, we were a bit sloppy. We lost some duels. They got the ball behind us too easy. I was on the bench and thinking I would be happy to get in at 1-0.

“The goal gave us a different position in the game. In the second half, Harry Kane killed the game, the way he connected the game, the way he was dropping, he allowed Son Heung-min into attacking spaces. His performance was amazing.

“In the second half we were too good for them

“We know Southampton quite well - we played them four times last season, twice in the league and twice in the cup. [Former Southampton midfielder Pierre-Emile] Hojbjerg helped us to analyse and understand the way they play. We knew they risk a lot.

"The full-backs leave a lot of space behind. By Harry Kane’s movement we killed them. He changed the game for me and of course Sonny.”

On Dele Alli being left out. “It’s too many [people in the squad]. When you bring 18 players you leave eight players behind. Not easy for Dele or any of them. Of course [he is still part of Spurs’ plans].”

On Gareth Bale and Sergio Reguilon: “It’s unfair for me to speak about new signings today when this team won 5-2. When Gareth and Sergio belong to the team and they are ready to play then they will be our players.”

Jacob Vydelingum: Son, Kane, Zaha, Calvert-Lewin and now Maupay... I cannot imagine Garth Crooks’ formation for team of the week.

Adam Salter: If the offside flag hadn’t gone up, VAR would have checked that goal and people would have complained. Instead, it’s overturned a refereeing decision that originally denied a goal and thus has given a goal. This is why VAR should be used to make ‘positive decisions’

Guess what? Tariq Lamptey has set up another chance.

It's slipped through to the youngster on the right - who is practically playing as a winger at the moment - and Allan Saint-Maximin doesn't track him.

Lamptey's cross is inches away from Aaron Connolly but it's deflected up and into the hands of Karl Darlow.

Neal Maupay's brace within seven minutes is the fastest a player has scored twice from the start of a Premier League match since December 2012, when Edin Dzeko scored twice in the first four minutes against Norwich.

Brighton break quickly and it's poked on by Aaron Connolly for Tariq Lamptey. His first touch is excellent and he's almost in on goal but it's a good recovery from the two Newcastle defenders chasing back.

He's everywhere at the moment, Lamptey.

You always know when VAR take that long they are going to overrule it and in the end they get the right call. Good run from Leandro Trossard then a good ball to Neal Maupay who comes up with a good finish.
