Kyle Utterson: Amazed Tottenham have left out Dele Ali. However I wouldn't jump to conclusions yet. Maybe Jose doesn't think he is as fit as the other players at present. Hope he stays as he will be a massive player for Tottenham.

  3. Leciester sign Under on loanpublished at 11:27 British Summer Time 20 September 2020

    Leicester v Burnley (19:00 BST)

Leicester City have signed Roma winger Cengiz Under on a season-long loan deal, with the option of a permanent transfer.

The 23-year-old has made 88 appearances in all competitions for Roma, scoring 17 goals since arriving in 2017.

Under, who has 21 Turkey caps, joins international team-mate Caglar Soyuncu at King Power Stadium.

"I've always wanted to play in England and this is a great opportunity to play in the Premier League," Under said.

  4. 'For Jose the stakes are sky high'published at 11:24 British Summer Time 20 September 2020

    Southmpton v Tottenham (12:00 BST)

Jose Mourinho has turned the clock back in an attempt to get his Tottenham Hotspur tenure moving into the future with Gareth Bale returning to the club he left in 2013.

This is a crucial moment in Bale's career as he comes out of exile after what many regard as a mystifying fall from grace at the Bernabeu for someone who played a pivotal role in four Champions League wins.

The Wales forward has been derided in Spain of late as more golfer than footballer after being totally marginalised by coach Zinedine Zidane.

Yet in the context of his unremarkable spell at Spurs so far, it is an even more important moment for Mourinho as he struggles to convince many of the club's fans he is any sort of upgrade on Mauricio Pochettino and finds himself facing accusations that too many of his methods belong in the past just one game into the Premier League season.

    Leicester v Burnley (19;00 BST)

Leicester's Jonny Evans serves the second game of a three-match ban, so midfielder Wilfred Ndidi may again fill in at centre-back even though Wes Morgan is now fully fit.

Manager Brendan Rodgers could recall James Maddison to the starting line-up after the midfielder returned from injury as a substitute last weekend.

Burnley's Johann Berg Gudmundsson is ruled out with a knee injury.

James Tarkowski is a doubtful with a minor toe problem.

Ben Mee, Jack Cork and Ashley Barnes remain sidelined.

  6. Bale is back!published at 11:18 British Summer Time 20 September 2020

    Southampton v Tottenham (12:00 BST)

The big news out of Tottenham this week is of course the re-signing of Wales forward Gareth Bale from Spanish champions Real Madrid on a season-long loan.

Bale, 31, left Spurs for a then world record £85m in 2013 and went on to score more than 100 goals and win four Champions Leagues with Real.

"It's nice to be back. It's such a special club to me. It's where I made my name," said Bale.

"Hopefully, now I can get some match fitness, get under way and really help the team and, hopefully, win trophies."

The visit of Liverpool comes too soon for Thiago Silva and Christian Pulisic, while summer signings Ben Chilwell and Hakim Ziyech remain out.

  9. Spurs in need of a boost?published at 11:09 British Summer Time 20 September 2020

    Southampton v Tottenham (12:00 BST)

Everton's start to the season has been excellent and they kicked it off by defeating Spurs at their stadium in the opening fixture of the season.

Jose Mourinho's side were sloppy in parts and did not make it comfortable in their narrow 2-1 win over nine-man Lokomotiv Plovdiv in the Europa League second-round qualifying match on Thursday.

A win on the road today would be a much-needed boost to their underwhelming start to the season.

  13. A slow start from the Saintspublished at 10:57 British Summer Time 20 September 2020

    Southampton v Tottenham (12:00 BST)

It's been a disappointing start to the season for Southampton, with two losses in their opening two games.

Wilfried Zaha's volley was enough at Selhurst Park to seal a narrow 1-0 win for Crystal Palace after Nathan Redmond and Danny Ings missed decent chances for Southampton.

The Saints then suffered a 2-0 loss in the Carabao Cup second round at home to Brentford on Wednesday.

But can they get points on the board against a Tottenham side who have looked unconvincing in their opening two matches of the season?

Brighton are assessing Adam Lallana and Ben White, who both limped off during their club debuts last weekend.

Davy Propper and Alireza Jahanbakhsh both impressed in the Carabao Cup in midweek and are pushing for recalls.
