Newcastle make three changes to the side that lost 3-0 at home to Brighton last weekend.

Jamal Lewis (eye) and Allan Saint-Maximin (ankle) both miss out through injury, while Andy Carroll drops down to the bench.

Matt Ritchie, Miguel Almiron and Joelinton - who scored twice in the Carabao Cup in midweek - all make their first league starts of the season.

The game is opening up. Two more good saves at either end of the pitch. Leeds keeper Illan Meslier has pulled off two excellent stops already in this game to keep the scores level.

Only Vicente Guiata (11) and Sam Johnstone (13) have made more saves in the Premier League this season than Illan Meslier (8).

Tom Sharpe: This isn't exactly news considering how many goals they've conceded, but Leeds look really poor in defence.

Jonnymango95: Been an entertaining half so far. Sheffield United haven't let their early troubles this season dampen their ambition, and Leeds looking typically fluid. Just needs a goal to break this game open.

Ohh it's another beaut of a stop of Illan Meslier.

Sheffield United wing-back George Baldock spins well in the box and lashes a strike towards the near post, but the Leeds goalkeeper stretches out a strong left hand to tip the ball over the crossbar.

Brilliant save again.

1-1 in terms of superb goalkeeper saves made so far.

Leeds' movement and slick passing is a joy to watch, Jack Harrison nicks a pass through to Stuart Dallas on the edge of the area and the Northern Ireland international has to take it first time, toe-poking a shot which is looping towards the top corner, but Aaron Ramsdale gets across to push the ball away.

Sheffield United are still yet to score in the Premier League this season.

Chances are flowing.

Leeds give the ball away and are almost punished as Oliver Burke rips into the area, but his shot from the left side of the area is brilliantly blocked by Robin Koch's sliding challenge.

Cheeky effort from Kalvin Phillips, trying to catch out Aaron Ramsdale with a free-kick from near the corner flag but he overcooks it and the ball sails harmlessly over.

Leeds work another opening through Jack Harrison's well-shaped cross into the box, Patrick Bamford leaps and cranes his neck to loop a header towards goal but only onto the roof of the net.

Worldie of a save from Illan Meslier!

Sheffield United should lead but are denied by the goalkeeper.

Ben Osborn zips down the left and this time the delivery is much better, into the six-yard box which is flicked on by David McGoldrick.

It falls perfectly for John Lundstram eight yards out, the Blades midfielder side-foots it towards the corner but Meslier springs full stretch to his right to make a stunning stop.
