A frantic start to the half, a cagey middle and an end-to-end finish. Gareth Southgate is here watching. I don't think he is going to witness another one of Leeds United's seven-goal thrillers.

Tottenham make one change from their 5-2 win at Southampton last weekend.

Giovani Lo Celso comes in to midfield, in place of Tanguy Ndombele, just like at half-time in last's weekend victory.

There's a place on the bench for left-back Sergio Reguilon, for the first time since his move from Real Madrid.

Tottenham Hotspur XI: Lloris, Doherty, Sanchez, Dier, Davies, Winks, Hojbjerg, Lo Celso, Moura, Kane, Son.

Newcastle make three changes to the side that lost 3-0 at home to Brighton last weekend.

Jamal Lewis (eye) and Allan Saint-Maximin (ankle) both miss out through injury, while Andy Carroll drops down to the bench.

Matt Ritchie, Miguel Almiron and Joelinton - who scored twice in the Carabao Cup in midweek - all make their first league starts of the season.

Newcastle XI: Darlow, Manquillo, Lascelles, Fernandez, Ritchie, Hayden, Shelvey, Hendricks, Almiron, Joelinton, Wilson.

Only the sixth match in the Premier League this season to be 0-0 at half-time. Two of those have involved Sheffield United (also against Aston Villa).

Gotta love watching Kalvin Phillips in the Premier League now. Watching how he controls and picks out players with ease gives you the feeling he's going to go on to be a fantastic player at this level.

A Yorkshire derby which came to the boil quite nicely.

Sheffield United might have just shaded it towards the end, but plenty to work with for both managers.

My only regret is not bringing a thicker jacket. If you're going out today, wrap up. It's nippy!

Oliver Camp: Why is this Leeds defence - so good in the Championship last year - now completely incapable of even marking opposition players? So, so much space for Sheffield United.

Farai Diza: For a goalie who has conceded seven in two matches, this is some performance by Illan Meslier. He has kept Leeds in the game, proved his critics wrong & showed just how a solid defence contributes to his performance. I'm impressed.

An entertaining first half, but it remains goalless.

Both goalkeepers have been in inspired form.

The game is opening up. Two more good saves at either end of the pitch. Leeds keeper Illan Meslier has pulled off two excellent stops already in this game to keep the scores level.

Tom Sharpe: This isn't exactly news considering how many goals they've conceded, but Leeds look really poor in defence.

Jonnymango95: Been an entertaining half so far. Sheffield United haven't let their early troubles this season dampen their ambition, and Leeds looking typically fluid. Just needs a goal to break this game open.

  12. GREAT SAVE!published at 41 mins

    Sheff Utd 0-0 Leeds

Ohh it's another beaut of a stop of Illan Meslier.

Sheffield United wing-back George Baldock spins well in the box and lashes a strike towards the near post, but the Leeds goalkeeper stretches out a strong left hand to tip the ball over the crossbar.

    Brilliant save again.

  13. GREAT SAVE!published at 39 mins

    Sheff Utd 0-0 Leeds

1-1 in terms of superb goalkeeper saves made so far.

Leeds' movement and slick passing is a joy to watch, Jack Harrison nicks a pass through to Stuart Dallas on the edge of the area and the Northern Ireland international has to take it first time, toe-poking a shot which is looping towards the top corner, but Aaron Ramsdale gets across to push the ball away.

A cagey derby so far but Sheffield United should be one goal up.

John Lundstram's shot from eight yards out - great save from Leeds keeper Illan Meslier.

Sheffield United are still yet to score in the Premier League this season.

  15. CLOSE!published at 35 mins

    Chances are flowing.

Leeds give the ball away and are almost punished as Oliver Burke rips into the area, but his shot from the left side of the area is brilliantly blocked by Robin Koch's sliding challenge.

  16. Postpublished at 34 mins

Cheeky effort from Kalvin Phillips, trying to catch out Aaron Ramsdale with a free-kick from near the corner flag but he overcooks it and the ball sails harmlessly over.

The Sheffield United bench and pretty much everyone in the stadium thought that John Lundstram effort had gone in, given they are all in the stand behind the dug-outs.

Disbelief, not least from Chris Wilder. The Blades need a goal to get their season up and running.

  18. CLOSE!published at 31 mins

    Chances at both ends.

Leeds work another opening through Jack Harrison's well-shaped cross into the box, Patrick Bamford leaps and cranes his neck to loop a header towards goal but only onto the roof of the net.

  19. GREAT SAVE!published at 30 mins

    Sheff Utd 0-0 Leeds

Worldie of a save from Illan Meslier!

Sheffield United should lead but are denied by the goalkeeper.

Ben Osborn zips down the left and this time the delivery is much better, into the six-yard box which is flicked on by David McGoldrick.

It falls perfectly for John Lundstram eight yards out, the Blades midfielder side-foots it towards the corner but Meslier springs full stretch to his right to make a stunning stop.
