Some good play from Scott McTominay there. He surges into the box from the right-hand side, but his cross is easily cut out.

Nice ball to find him from Kieran Tierney, too. Bit better from Scotland. A tad pedestrian again though.

I still don't think Scotland are doing nearly enough, they don't look comfortable in the shape

And again, brilliant forward play by Lyndon Dykes. He races to control James Forrest's clearance and draws a foul, and suddenly Scotland have position on the half-way line.

Nothing comes from it, but the striker's ability to get on the end of hopeful balls is impressive. Something from nothing.

  4. Postpublished at 53 mins

    Scotland 1-0 Israel

Ryan Christie has been really sharp in this second half as he wins possession back on the by-line, and gets another chance at a cross.

He picks out John McGinn, who flicks the ball on to give Callum McGregor a shot at goal, but it's well blocked from the edge of the area.

    Scotland 1-0 Israel

Another nice bit of chest control from Lyndon Dykes sets up Ryan Christie on the edge of the area, but he loses possession.

Dykes has really made an impact with his hold up play. A very good debut so far!

  6. Postpublished at 48 mins

    Scotland 1-0 Israel

Celtic teammates Ryan Christie and Nir Bitton exchange a laugh as the Israeli fouls the Scot.

Scotland are pushing quite high up the pitch so far as they attempt to disrupt Israel's possession.

  7. Postpublished at 46 mins

    Scotland 1-0 Israel

No changes at the break, by the way. Israel have started on the front foot.

Solomon raced after a chipped through ball, but couldn't catch it before it ran out.

Lyndon Dykes has been excellent. He's had four or five times to hold the ball up, bring others into play and he's done it with aplomb

I think John McGinn's just got his toe to the ball before there was contact. The goalkeeper cannot dive into that top corner. It's just impossible to stretch that far. It's been safe, it's a game where nobody wants to take a chance. I'd like to see more running into the channels

It was Scott McTominay who redeemed himself by blocking the follow-up for that Israeli chance. It was his missed header that allowed Dabbur to head on target.

John McGinn does everything right. There is contact, not much contact but the referee gives the penalty

You just don't save them. The penalty is absolutely emphatic. It's brilliantly dispatched by Ryan Christie

  16. HALF-TIME - Scotland 1-0 Israelpublished at 20:32 British Summer Time 4 September 2020

You wait 42 minutes for some action and it all comes along at once!

Moanes Dabbur looked all set to head Israel ahead, but David Marshall denied him, and the rebound was also blocked.

Up the other end, John McGinn is impeded in the box, Scotland get a penalty which Ryan Christie slammed into the net.

Before that it was all very pedestrian, but who cares?!

GOAL - Scotland 1-0 Israelpublished at 20:29 British Summer Time 4 September 2020

    Ryan Christie (pen)

    Top bin.

That is a sumptuous finish into the goalkeeper's top right-hand corner from Christie.

The penalty came after Lyndon Dykes knocked the ball down to John McGinn in the box, and the Aston Villa midfielder was - according to the referee - tripped.

Scotland were so close to being a goal down just a minute earlier. Football, eh?

  19. GREAT SAVE!published at 20:28 British Summer Time 4 September 2020

    Scotland 0-0 Israel

What a save from David Marshall! A lovely cross comes in from the right, Scott McTominay misses it at the back post and Moanes Dabbur stoops to head it goalwards, but Marshall was there to deny him.

    Scotland 0-0 Israel

John McGinn uses that backside of his to hold off a defender, and sets up Callum McGregor for a speculative effort from the edge of the box, which skews wide of the post.

    A tad better from Scotland.
