Re Alan Finn. Exactly! Against city and liverpool united can sit back and break using pace. But what about when they cant?? They cant break teams down because Olly has one way of playing.

Honestly whilst I share a large amount of United fans frustrations I can't believe some of the stuff I'm reading! Ole has no tactical nous but managed to beat Chelsea 3 times last year city twice (against one of the best tacticians ever in pep supposedly) and managed to finished 3rd with so much recruitment still needed! Hardly amateurish management or tactics. If United fans blame glazers and Woodward and nothing changes they just move onto Ole so something else changes! Fickle beyond belief.

    Stephen.

Manchester United did beat Manchester City in three games last season as Alan (21:39) says - though one of those wins came in a two-legged league cup tie which they lost on aggregate.

Luton still haven't tested Dean Henderson. Andrew Shinnie screws a half-volley wide of goal.

It's unlucky by Luton's full debutant Peter Kioso. He surges out of defence really well, finds a team-mate and continues the run. Sadly the follow-up ball is just too far for him and he fouls Eric Bailly and gets booked while trying to get it.

Alan Finn: So, Ole has no tactical nous eh. Both City and Chelsea beaten 3 times last season. Saturday’s defeat was the first loss in the premier league for 14 games.

United have a sixth corner of the game (Luton have had three) but Juan Mata's cross is headed away.

I'm not convinced Ole knows his strongest line up. It's a team with a lot of individual inconsistency. The teams that win the trophies are strong as individuals and teams week on week. Individual moments of switching off loses you games, points and silverware.

Then Nemanja Matic goes close with a 20-yard strike but it's well saved.

Ole's body language tonight couldn't be more different from last season. He looks like a man with the weight of the world on his shoulders not a man looking to kick on and improve on third last season.

United go close twice in quick succession. Odion Ighalo has a shot blocked and then Jesse Lingard's effort from a tight angle is cleared off the line.

    Clinton Morrison
Former Crystal Palace striker on BBC Radio 5 Live

On Manchester United summer signing Donny van de Beek's performance:

It has been OK. I think it's going to be difficult for him to get into that starting 11, really difficult, because he plays in that Bruno Fernandes role and Fernandes is their main man at the moment.

They can definitely both play, I think all three can play - Van De Beek, Paul Pogba and Fernandes. Obviously that may leave you without a holding midfielder, but in certain games where you think you will dominate then all three can play.

I think it's a good signing. Do I think he will play week in week out? No. I think he will have to earn that right, but I watched him a lot for Ajax and I think he's a really good midfielder.

Dreamy play by Luton's ex-United man Ryan Tunnicliffe to intercept a United free-kick before carrying the ball up the pitch and picking out a team-mate.

United have a corner. Half an hour to go. Time for Luton to be thinking about some subs. They have Republic of Ireland striker James Collins on the bench.

    Corner comes to nothing.

The frustration for Utd fans is we seem to take one step forward but then press pause; no sales, one purchase and nowhere near the required levels of fitness... all looks totally amateurish, still...!
