A tale of two keepers!!! Could be the difference tonight

Ominous signs for Man City rivals at the weekend. They were perfection. Going on form, they have to be favourites for tonight but you just cannot write off Utd. Exciting.

United have the advantage of being at home in this semi-final, rather than it being over two legs.
But the away team won both the League Cup semi-final legs between them last season - so maybe it's not such an advantage.
There's a big game in Italy tonight as Juventus - who have won nine consecutive Serie A titles - visit leaders AC Milan.
Juve are a whole 10 points behind the hosts.

Kevin: City’s goalkeeper will cost them the game. Mark my words.
This is Manchester United’s 16th appearance in the League Cup semi-finals, with the Red Devils progressing to the final nine times.
However, they have lost two of their last three semi-final ties in the competition, having progressed from eight of nine before that.
Manchester City have progressed from each of their last five League Cup semi-final ties, going on to win the trophy each time.
The Citizens are looking to become just the second side to reach four consecutive League Cup finals, after Liverpool from 1981 to 1984.

For John Stones, to see how well he is playing, when most people, probably a year ago, thought he was over and done with at Manchester City, that's testament to him working hard, that's testament to him learning his craft and learning exactly what the manager wants.
But also the manager showing that he doesn't hold grudges against players if they are doing the right thing. I think over Pep's tenure at City, you kind of get a feel for that, which is why people play when they deserve to play. If they don't, then you won't see them, no matter how big they are.

What a night for James Trafford.
The young keeper will be on the bench as back-up goalkeeper this evening.
It is not the first time he has done the job for Manchester City this season.
He was on the bench for the Premier League win at Sheffield United and Champions League triumph over Olympiakos in the autumn.
In the middle, he missed the FA Youth Cup Final as he was called up by Pep Guardiola after the semi-final win over Blackburn.
James Trafford is a goalkeeper.

Fletch Fletcher: City have the quality to win today but they have to finish their chances. United's only real threat is on the counter, so if City get an early goal or two United will lose.
John Petrie: Lindelof selected ahead of Bailly? Need to give Maguire and Bailly a long run together and especially in key games. Big call after his performance at the weekend.

City boss Pep Guardiola says football is "an island inside society" as England went into lockdown again.
"Everything is locked down except ourselves," he said.
"When people say football players are special maybe it is the truth. I couldn't believe it before - I thought the doctors, teachers, architects, every person was the same - but it looks as if everything is closed except our business.
"All the managers must adapt to the situation, this is the reality."

The tone has changed so much at Manchester United that they are talking about the semi-final being a big game but for a club like them, it is about the winning.
For the final this year, it doesn't necessarily mean that United are back because United are associated with winning trophies - and that's ultimately what they bring the next manager in for after Ole at some point in the future.
To mark the occasion, we've set you a quiz on some of the past times local rivals have met in cup competitions.
There are 10 questions, some of them easy, some of them not so easy.

I think this game is very important for Ole Gunnar Solskjaer, individually as a manager and to satisfy himself. Answering the question: Can I really get this team to the next level, winning finals and trophies?
I don't care that this is a semi-final, I don't care where this teams are in the league, this is a massive game. It's United v City - that's what the players should be thinking.
