    Istanbul Basaksehir 1-0 Man Utd

Istanbul Basaksehir are happy enough now to sit deep and let Manchester United try to work out how to break them down.

However, Bruno Fernandes almost finds a way through after a superb first touch allows him to get into the area. He is closed down but the ball squirms through and is almost pounced on by Anthony Martial before Martin Skrtel hooks away.

Good work from Anthony Martial as he holds the ball up before being fouled by Martin Skrtel.

The attack breaks down and Istanbul Basaksehir try to hit on the counter but Boli Bolingoli is flagged just offside as he is released by Demba Ba.

Not sure how much Ole Gunnar Solskjaer can do about his players failing to do the absolute basics in that instance, Nathan.

Manchester United are struggling to find any rhythm now with some of their passing going astray.

Richard: Dean Henderson, on his debut, has just seen what De Gea has to deal with every week. S H A M B L E S.

Colin: Again? Basics. What the hell is going on? Training ground must be a shambles. What the hell is the game plan or tactics? Someone get Ole off his IPad and get him sorting this team out. Embarrassing.

Nathan House: That’s League 2 defending. We beat Paris and Leipzig to put this team out and go 1 down? I’ve been a huge supporter but Ole needs to go whilst there’s time to save the season. Awful

  5. YELLOW CARDpublished at 19 mins

    Istanbul Basaksehir 1-0 Man Utd

Manchester United are almost caught out again by route one football as Demba Ba tries to get in behind but Axel Tuanzebe brings the striker down. Ba is fuming, he thinks it should be a red as the last man but it is only a yellow.

Still, concerning defending once again by Manchester United.

    Istanbul Basaksehir 1-0 Man Utd

Aaron Wan-Bissaka is back to sweep up a Demba Ba flick on as Istanbul Basaksehir look to stun the visitors further.

Unsurprisingly, that goal has knocked Manchester United as they were playing some good stuff going forward before Ba struck.

  7. Postpublished at 15 mins

    Istanbul Basaksehir 1-0 Man Utd

Not only a surprise goal for the hosts but also a historic one as it is their first in the Champions League.

They will probably never score an easier one than that either. A gift.

That is absolutely embarrassing from Manchester United. Great finish, nice and cool but the nearest player is Matic. Where have the two centre halves gone? Demba Ba is no joke.

It is lack of organisation, lack of leadership. One on one with the keeper from the half way line.

    Demba Ba

Erm... where's the Manchester United defence!!?

Absolutely slack from the visitors as no-one picks up Demba Ba just inside his own half and he is onto a long ball and races the length of the Manchester United half before slotting in past Dean Henderson.

A composed finish, but a terrible goal to concede from Manchester United's point of view.

Dean Henderson backs himself, backs his quality, takes charge of his back four. He is a very good goalkeeper and Man Utd need a confident young man to take over the gloves.

Babyboomer: Not sure Donny is going to fit in at Man United. He just passed the ball and carried on running forwards for the return pass. That is going to confuse the hell out of anyone being coached by Carrick for the last few years.

Luke Shaw fizzes an effort across the face of goal and just wide of the far post before Edin Visca thumps a strike from distance just over the bar at the other end.

Chances are starting to present themselves after a cagey start.

Now Bruno Fernandes turns creator as he attempts to pick out Juan Mata inside the box but it is far too big an ask of Mata's 32-year-old legs to chase and keep it alive.

Manchester United are looking good on the ball now, though.

    Istanbul Basaksehir 0-0 Man Utd

A superbly accurate ball from halfway by Harry Maguire finds Bruno Fernandes inside the box and the Portugal international hooks a first-time effort across the face of goal.

I think that may have been a shot as he was the only Manchester United player in the box.

Boli Bolingoli does well to keep the ball alive down the flank and then finds Dema Ba on the edge of the area. The former Chelsea striker aims a ball to the far post but it's not a good cross and goes behind for a goal kick.

    Istanbul Basaksehir 0-0 Man Utd

I'm not aware that this game has been opened up to a number of fans but there are very, very vocal group of what sounds like about 10 people belting out a few chants for the home side, who have started quite well. They are seeing a lot of the ball in these first few minutes, but nothing to worry the Manchester United defence yet.

Man Utd are are in third gear this season, they have a lot more to do to convince the fans they are the real deal. They haven’t hit any form at all, their star players haven’t hit any form at all. They are a long way off the standard they need to be.

It’s all there. Cavani is itching to play, Ighalo, Pogba wants to prove he is not a flop. He has to start to prove it.

The players are out on the pitch and we've just had the Champions League anthem, which doesn't hold the same power it has when played out to a packed stadium.

Almost ready to go in Istanbul.
