    Atletico Madrid 0-0 Chelsea

    Rob Green
Former England goalkeeper on BBC Radio 5 Live

Chelsea have show more attacking intent and cutting edge in this opening 20 minutes than they did in the whole 90 on Saturday against Southampton. Very encouraging.

  3. PENALTY APPEALpublished at 20:21 Greenwich Mean Time 23 February 2021

    Lazio 0-1 Bayern Munich

Lazio have a big penalty shout as Jerome Boateng brings down Sergej Milinkovic-Savic on the edge of the box. It's not given. Lucky escape for Bayern.

    Atletico Madrid 0-0 Chelsea

A couple of almost-passes for Chelsea around Atletico's penalty area. They've done quite well since that shaky start.

    Atletico Madrid 0-0 Chelsea

No penalty is the VAR decision. I still haven't seen what happened. Timo Werner was tackled fairly would be my educated guess.

Timo Werner goes down in the box. No penalty.

VAR is having a look actually. I haven't seen a replay to know what happened.

    Atletico Madrid 0-0 Chelsea

Now Chelsea have a half-chance. Mason Mount whips in a brilliant cross from the right wing but nobody is there to turn it home.

    Atletico Madrid 0-0 Chelsea

Atletico Madrid should be ahead. Luis Suarez gets the ball near the corner flag from two Chelsea defenders, runs in and squares it across the six-yard box. Thomas Lemar throws himself at the cross at the back post but can't send it into the empty net.

Can already tell this will be a slow game. Same old Atletico playing with 6 defenders while at home.. so negative for such a good team. Whats the point?

    Alex, Bournemouth

Very strange line up tonight, no Kante and playing Jorginho when we will most likely limited possession. Looks like a long night for all us Chelsea fans.

    Leon Osman
Former Everton midfielder on BBC Radio 5 Live

Atletico are happy to give up a lot of territory when Chelsea are in possession but the moment they do get into the Chelsea half, they are pressing very aggressively. They are not giving Chelsea any time to pass the ball around their own half.

Bayern Munich take the lead. Robert Lewandowski is picked out - by a Lazio defender - in the box, rounds Pepe Reina and taps into an empty net.

Big chance for Bayern Munich but Robert Lewandowski can't get a touch onto Joshua Kimmich's pass with the goal gaping.

Femi: Concerning and bizarrely nervy start by Chelsea

Mason Mount's yellow card after 55 seconds was the quickest card shown in the Champions League this season

Much better from Chelsea; a bit of sustained pressure and they kept the ball for a little bit longer. It's been a nervous start from Chelsea, getting themselves under pressure defensively.

    Atletico Madrid 0-0 Chelsea

Chelsea have been a lot better since that farcical start. They have a corner now, Mason Mount takes. Luis Suarez heads away.

You can build a team with a strong identity and make a team play out from the back, no matter what minute it is. But really, for the first few minutes of the game, just get it in their half for a bit! Get it away from your goal.

    Atletico Madrid 0-0 Chelsea

Chelsea's first attack but Cesar Azpilicueta's cross is cleared by Marcos Llorente.

Llorente was a midfielder, then started playing in a more advanced role and now he is at right-back because Kieran Trippier is suspended.

If there's one player you don't want to give time and space to - no matter where it is on the pitch - it's Joao Felix. He can do anything, from anywhere. He's a fantastic player, such a talent.
