Important save by Alisson as, despite Liverpool's good start, it is the visitors who have the first shot on target but Dani Olmo puts his close-range effort too close to the goalkeeper.

Why didn't he shoot? He was through on the goal, and he just tried to put it on a plate for Mohamed Salah but just put your laces through it. A player of his calibre should be doing a lot better.

Oh, should Thiago have had a shot?

The midfielder strides into the box through the middle and has sight of goal but he opts to try and pick out Mo Salah and Dayot Upamecano is well placed to cut out the danger.

Positive start by the Reds, however.

It is a severe test for Liverpool. Leipzig will have to weather a storm from Liverpool but they have the quality to test Liverpool. For them it is about staying in the game, and not conceding another goal so they are still in the tie.
