Mark: All the talk about Liverpool's defence this season has rather masked the absolutely abysmal chance conversion rate by their front three. Striker needed.

I've never been so disappointed in the 50 years I've followed LFC through thick and thin - goodbye Jurgen and thanks for the lovely memories!

    Mark , North Wales

Liverpool have played well tonight, proud of the effort. Just couldn't put the ball in the net.

Liverpool 0-0 Real Madrid (agg 1-3)

Karim Benzema puts the ball out to Rodrygo. Benzema thinks about running into the box but decides not to... and then Rodrygo crosses into nobody.

  3. INJURY TIMEpublished at 21:50 British Summer Time 14 April 2021

Borussia Dortmund 1-2 Manchester City (agg 2-4)

Four minutes in Dortmund, too. No danger of City doing a Paris St-Germain. And that's who they will play in the last four.

City keeping the ball and slowing the pace down...

Diogo Jota inswings in a cross from the right... but nobody is onto it.

  5. INJURY TIMEpublished at 21:49 British Summer Time 14 April 2021

Liverpool 0-0 Real Madrid (agg 1-3)

Four minutes added on. It would really be a big, big ask now.

Borussia Dortmund 1-2 Manchester City (agg 2-4)

Emre Can, the man responsible for giving away the penalty which turned this natch around in City's favour, has a pop from distance. If there wasn't a big stand behind the goal the wayward ball would be halfway to Dusseldorf.

  7. SUBSTITUTIONpublished at 21:47 British Summer Time 14 April 2021

Borussia Dortmund 1-2 Manchester City (agg 2-4)

That was Riyad Mahrez's final action of a productive evening. The City winger is given a breather as Pep Guardiola runs down the clock.

Raheem Sterling comes on to pick up some appearance cash.

    Heading towards stoppage time...

Liverpool 0-0 Real Madrid (agg 1-3)

Real try to get out but they don't have anybody outside their defensive third - so they just give it away again.

Liverpool 0-0 Real Madrid (agg 1-3)

It's basically attack v defence. But Real's defenders are heading away every ball. You wouldn't know their first-choice centre-backs were injured.

Borussia Dortmund 1-2 Manchester City (agg 2-4)

The game is more stretched than Neapolitan pizza dough now. City just want that a deluxe topping - a third goal on the night - to seal this with a chef's kiss.

After a Dortmund corner, they pile forward on the counter with Kevin de Bruyne putting Phil Foden clean through from the halfway line.

Ilkay Gundogan and Riyad Mahrez leg it forward to help him. but Foden's pass is behind the German and not quite good enough for the Algerian to collect cleanly.

    Dortmund survive.

Diogo Jota, heavy touch as he tries to control on the edge of the box. Now he has a deflected cross which loops into the air but goes to safety from a Real point of view.

  12. Postpublished at 21:43 British Summer Time 14 April 2021

Liverpool 0-0 Real Madrid (agg 1-3)

Liverpool can't find a way through. Real Madrid have a bank of five and four. Karim Benzema isn't even on halfway.

Dave Bookham: Probably one of the poorer Real teams this decade, yet I bet they win it by beating all English sides. QF-Liverpool, SF- Chelsea, F-Man City......

And people still have the audacity to argue Foden isn't on the same level as Mason Mount or Greenwood. He once again turns up on the big stage. Stockport Iniesta!!

Seven minutes to go. It doesn't feel impossible but Liverpool need to find their shooting boots.

  15. Postpublished at 21:41 British Summer Time 14 April 2021

Borussia Dortmund 1-2 Manchester City (agg 2-4)

City want to put this one to bed with a third goal. Oleksandr Zinchenko has a pop but can't stretch the Dortmund keeper.

  16. SUBSTITUTIONpublished at 21:40 British Summer Time 14 April 2021

Liverpool 0-0 Real Madrid (agg 1-3)

Liverpool bring off Sadio Mane and Roberto Firmino. Interesting. Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain and Xherdan Shaqiri are on.

Real replace Marco Asensio with Isco.

  17. Postpublished at 21:40 British Summer Time 14 April 2021

Liverpool 0-0 Real Madrid (agg 1-3)

Real Madrid's chance to finish this tie. Actually Karim Benzema might have been offside as he heads the ball into the turf and it bounces over the bar.

Chris at 20:37. No one is missing.

    Danny, Newport

That'll probably be that for us. The usual Spanish playacting began on minute 10 and will continue for the rest of the game.

  19. SUBSTITUTIONpublished at 21:39 British Summer Time 14 April 2021

Borussia Dortmund 1-2 Manchester City (agg 2-4)

Jude Bellingham, the star of the first half, is taken off by Dortmund as Germany international Julian Brandt provides some fresh legs.

Very good performance by the 17-year-old, even though the night is set to end in disappointment.

  20. Postpublished at 21:39 British Summer Time 14 April 2021

Liverpool 0-0 Real Madrid (agg 1-3)

Phenomenal first touch from Marco Asensio to control a long ball. He finds Rodrygo, whose cross is put behind by Nat Phillips - who was having a header from a Liverpool corner a minute ago.
