Steve: There are no favourites in a one off game. One mistake, a red card, a penalty. So unpredictable. Chelsea should have scored more. Lost against Porto at home, let us hope for a better result Wednesday week.

  4. 'Madrid will be open at times'published at 21:59 British Summer Time 27 April 2021

I don't expect Real Madrid to play a three at the back next week because they do need that goal so I expect them to play a four which will leave them open at times. I don't think Thomas Tuchel will change too much - he'll probably play the same starting XI.

  5. 'Real won't play as bad as that'published at 21:59 British Summer Time 27 April 2021

    Real Madrid 1-1 Chelsea

Former Chelsea midfielder Joe Cole, speaking to BT Sport: "I thought Chelsea were the most physical team on the pitch. I think we missed a little trick, I hope I am wrong but I think Real won't play as bad as that next week.

"Good result, fantastic performance but it could have been better."

N'Golo Kante is one of the best midfielders in world football at what he does. He breaks up play and keeps it simple, but he drives and that is what Real Madrid's ageing midfield couldn't handle. They couldn't catch him, in particular in the first half.

It surprised me when he wasn't playing as much. No, if he is fit he should be playing week in week out.

  7. 'Chelsea would take that'published at 21:57 British Summer Time 27 April 2021

    Rio Ferdinand
Former England defender on BT Sport

I think Chelsea would have taken this before the game. For a Chelsea fan I think they will be happy. They have the away goal and they know how to keep clean sheets.

The first half was frantic and end to end. At times you just have to realise it is the first leg and you've still got the second leg to win the game. It was more sensible from Chelsea - they didn't want to leave gaps. Overall they will be happy with their performance - it is all on Real Madrid in the second leg now.

It was a really entertaining first half but the second wasn't as good but you can understand that.

Chelsea are favourites now, getting the away goal, but Madrid are still in this and can cause problems.

Tuchel strides out in his cap and has some stirring words with a few of his players. He looks pleased with that as well he might.

But could they have had more?

Thomas Tuchel remains unbeaten in all five Champions League matches as a manager versus Real Madrid (W1-D3-L0).

He is now the manager to take charge of the most Champions League matches against Real Madrid without ever losing.

Imagine there will be lots of "good result away from home" going about after this but in reality Chelsea should have buried Real in that first half hour. Think it may cost them in the second leg.

A million per cent Thomas Tuchel will have taken this before the game. He's got the away goal and the draw - they are in the box seat. They can sit back at home and play on the counter attack and they've got the players that can do that.

Willem: So this could have been a Super League game? I missed the first half of this game, but I have seen more exciting football in the Belgian 3rd division. Glad it didn't happen.

That was the big opportunity that I said was coming! But he just hasn't headed it - it was going well wide if it didn't hit Ben Chillwell.
