Real Madrid 1-1 Chelsea
Timo Werner has the first sight of goal in the second half, N'Golo Kante does well to nick the ball back in typical fashion, he turns it into the German's path and his shot is well blocked.

Mason Mount whips in an early cross but it's straight at Thibaut Courtois. Chelsea can take a big stride toward the final in the next 45 minutes. Or a massive slide away from it.

Away they go!

Here come the sides. Can Chelsea start as sharply as they did in the first?

Rio Ferdinand
Former England defender on BT Sport
I have played against him [Karim Benzema] and he is difficult to play against. He has stepped up, Ronaldo left, he played second fiddle to him, he knew who was the main man but now he has taken over the reins and is leading this team now.

Sam: This game is calling for Tammy, Chelsea could have been out of sight.

Can you honestly see any of those players at Chelsea next season?

Kyle Utterson: If Chelsea sign a top striker like a Haaland, Harry Kane or Lukaku then they will have a great chance to rival Manchester City, Liverpool and Manchester United next season. They need a top striker though. Bar being clinical they have been superb tonight.

Having just seen the Chelsea goal again, what on earth was Nacho doing? Even after Christian Pulisic had controlled the ball he had time to get across but he ran back to the goalline.
Rio Ferdinand, on BT TV, is perplexed.

It has been end to end. Chelsea were brilliant in the first 15-20 minutes and maybe could have been two or three goals up, but slowly Real Madrid have got back into the game. Karim Benzema has been their star man. His goal was world class.

Know Timo offers a great outlet with his pace... but if he could finish we could have Madrid dead and buried! Change required at half time for me.

I thought Chelsea would sit back with it being the first leg and they are away from home but they started positively. The only thing Thomas Tuchel will say is they could have been a bit more clinical.

Karim Benzema is only the sixth player to score as many as five goals in Champions League knockout semi-finals, after Cristiano Ronaldo (13), Robert Lewandowski (7), Lionel Messi (6), Jari Litmanen (5) and Alessandro del Piero (5).
Litmanen! What a guy. But also the only one in that list kept out of a team by Emile Heskey.
Real Madrid 1-1 Chelsea
A brilliant half of football, fitting for this stage of the competition. That whistled by.

Timo Werner was so good last season for Leipzig whenever I saw him that I'm convinced he will come good. But Chelsea have form in this regard with strikers.

Nathan: I watch Martial as our centre forward and I get a little upset. Then I watch Werner play for Chelsea and I feel much better.
Chris, what have you done?

Fantastic game of football - imagine what it would be like if we could watch these two teams playing each other regularly every season??...anyone?..anyone?

That was almost a superb ball from Luka Modric but the wet pitch means it skips away from Toni Kroos and out of play. This half has skipped along.
Real Madrid 1-1 Chelsea
Christian Pulisic gets between the lines again, he finds Timo Werner who runs into the box and shoots, well wide of the near post. He had Mason Mount at the far post...
