Villarreal wouldn't have wanted to finish seventh in La Liga, but it was very difficult. It is getting more and more difficult to get into the top four. Maybe the best way for them to actually get into the Champions League is to win the Europa League, but today isn't going to be an easy game for them.

I am expecting Manchester United to have the legs on Villarreal, but I'm not expecting it to be as clear cut as everyone is expecting.

The fact that Man Utd are even in this competition amazes me! Everyone's talking about how good they are to get here, I'm sorry but when you spend 400-500 million on this squad it better win the europa league! Underachieving by millions.

The Manchester United fans who have flown into Poland today needed a test to get on the plane and at least two when they get home, and another one if they are to turn a 10-day isolation into five.

That is some serious expense in addition to the cost of going to the game.

This loyalty - at all clubs - is the backbone of the game and should never be forgotten.

Edinson Cavani is the dream centre forward for me. He is just a natural and he makes the right run, take sit down on his chest, gives it his midfielders and gets in the box. He is a nightmare for a centre back.

He is one of the best Manchester United have.

You've got to have the silverware. I totally disagree with Ole Gunnar Solskjaer that trophies are window dressing. You've got to be winning trophies at Manchester United.

When your career is over you are judged on how many trophies you've won, not how your team has progressed.

Ole has to start winning trophies or he will be replaced.

The experiences are very different as a player and manager. He's spoke about playing the game and not the occasion and that is the right mantra to have, but as a manager it is totally different.

This is a huge game for Manchester United, in terms of previous seasons. Not just for the players, but for Ole Gunnar Solskjaer too, I think it is a must-win game, to get that first bit of silverware and build on that.

I like the team selection - I think it is the best he could have gone for.

Aged 19 years and 237 days, United's Mason Greenwood could become only the second English teenager to score in a major European final after Brian Kidd, who scored on his 19th birthday for United in the 1968 European Cup final against Benfica.

He is making his 52nd appearance in all competitions this season - the joint-most by a teenager for top-five European league clubs, alongside Barcelona's Pedri.

  13. 'Man Utd may be too physical for Villarreal'published at 19:54 British Summer Time 26 May 2021

Villarreal v Man Utd (20:00 BST)

    Jose Enrique
Former Liverpool and Villarreal left-back on BBC Radio 5 Live

Villarreal play tika-taka football, and I believe they can cause some damage, but physicality wise I am really doubting that they can cope with Manchester United. It is going to be a very tough game, that Villarreal aren't used to.

  14. Rooney's presencepublished at 19:53 British Summer Time 26 May 2021

    Villarreal v Man Utd (20:00BST)

    Simon Stone
    BBC Sport in Gdansk

Wayne Rooney's presence maintains some sort of continuity for Manchester United.

Their former captain has had some involvement in every trophy they have won since 2004, when Roy Keane played in central midfield.

Just shows how long Rooney was at Old Trafford for.

Villarreal v Man Utd (20:00 BST)

    Jose Enrique
Former Liverpool and Villarreal left-back on BBC Radio 5 Live

Unai Emery has a lot of experience and he is the right manager for Villarreal. They maybe didn't finish where they expected to in the La Liga, after the investment they made last summer, but Villarreal should feel privileged to have a manager of his stature.

  16. 'Moreno is one of the best in the world'published at 19:51 British Summer Time 26 May 2021

Villarreal v Man Utd (20:00 BST)

Former Arsenal and Villarreal midfielder Santi Cazorla, who is with the Spanish side today, told BT Sport: "A special moment for everyone, no? Villarreal is my family. I played for the club a lot of years, it is important for me to help the team and enjoy the final.

"They don't need my help now. When you play in a final you have a lot of motivation. But I try to support them as best I can outside the pitch and try to enjoy with the them.

"Villarreal have to take the ball and keep the possession. Gerard Moreno is one of the best players in the world, he is in one of the key moments of his career."

  17. Forlan can't choose a favouritepublished at 19:50 British Summer Time 26 May 2021

Villarreal v Man Utd (20:00 BST)

    BBC World Service

Former Manchester United and Villarreal striker Diego Forlan has been speaking to BBC World Service about tonight's game.

"I’ve not got a favourite, I have love for both of the teams, it’s tough for me to say I want this team to win," he said.

"This match is going to be interesting. I think for Manchester United, Cavani is in a great moment so Villarreal will have to look after him because he’s getting goals, goals, goals in the moments when the team needs it.

"He’s a player who is very mature and experienced and in a great moment personally and professionally so he’s a player to look up to, it’ll be tough to play against him."

With all the build up to how big this could be for Ole and United in terms of the future, it would seem pretty disastrous to lose tonight

Ole Gunnar Solskjaer does speak with a proper Manchester United confidence. He has been there as a player.

He's got to send those positive thoughts out to his players. He has got more than good enough players to get over the line tonight, he now just has to manage them to victory.
