    What was the turnaround then?

Well, Jamie Paterson certainly looked lively, and Nakhi Wells too, as Bristol City seemed to miss out that congested midfield and cause their damage out wide.

Tommy Rowe had an all-action involvement, popping up to open the scoring from a lovely cushioned Chris Martin header, and applying the brakes to Wednesday's widemen in his usual defensive role.

Paterson's clincher at the end was a body blow to a Wednesday side who were just denied the chance to hurt them by well organised opponents.

FT: Bristol City 2-0 Sheff Wed

Sheffield Wednesday were the dominant side in the opening 45 minutes, particularly in midfield where they bossed affairs through Massimo Luongo and Barry Bannan.

However, they failed to create many clear chances in that period of ascendancy, and that proved key.

Kadeem Harris might have made for a different game, had he converted one of his two first-half efforts, particularly one scuffed wide from a fine Elias Kachunga cross.

They never got going in the second-half, as City raised their game and took a grip.

Tommy Rowe scores for Bristol CityImage source, PA Media

Bristol City keep on rolling under Dean Holden, to the top of the Championship after this third win on the spin.

Goals from Tommy Rowe and Jamie Paterson were enough to put away a dogged Wednesday in an improved second-half.

GOAL: Bristol City 2-0 Sheff Wedpublished at 90+2 mins

    Jamie Paterson

    Game over.

City pressed, winning a corner after Famara Diedhiou and Jamie Paterson came close to getting a shot away while the Owls dallied.

It looked as though City were just going to keep ball, but Paterson took control, picking up the ball, arcing across the box before curling the ball coolly past Cameron Dawson.

Nestled in the bottom right corner and City's perfect league start continues.

Hoofed away by City, after Wednesday knock it around in front of a tightly-packed defensive unit.

Famara Diedhiou is coming on for the hosts, with Chris Martin earning himself first dibs on the showers.

Jack Hunt eventually does come off, and Steven Sessegnon is on too.

Jack Hunt limps away from the box after a period of assessment and treatment, but looks as though he will come back on.

Kadeem Harris can't get a clean contact to a bouncing ball on the edge of the box and Wednesday's chance goes begging that time as it sweeps wide of the post.

To be fair, he pinched off Adam Reach's toes, when the winger looked to have a fair sight of goal.

Jack Hunt injured in the melee, and receiving treatment. Hope all is ok.

Jamie Paterson cheekily just plays the ball off Kadeem Harris to win a throw-in.

From the resulting throw, neat work between Paterson and Antoine Semenyo sees the latter scuff a shot wide of the post.

Wednesday throw on Jordan Rhodes to give them a late thrust. Adam Reach wins a corner...

There's a lot of excitement around Antoine Semenyo, London-born winger with some skill and pace.

He's just dinked in a cross but Cameron Dawson takes it easily.

Bit harsh before for Wednesday's Kadeem Harris who looked to have brushed aside Jack Hunt with just sheer strength, but was pulled up for a foul.

    He was in as well.

  12. SUBSTITUTIONpublished at 81 mins

City take off Nahki Wells, he's earned his bottle of energy drink.

    Coming on is Antoine Semenyo.

Fisayo Dele-Bashiru showed good body strength to force his way into the box for Wednesday but out came Dan Bentley to block and smother.

The Owls attacker went sprawling, but Tony Harrington was satsified no foul play had occurred.

Dele-Bashiru could be a useful outlet.

Barry Bannan's radar will be key for Wednesday if they're to get anything from this game.

He put a cute dink in behind to get Adam Reach away, having found a bit of time and space.

When you see Bannan just blatting a ball aimlessly as I saw about five minutes ago you know Wednesday are struggling for such midfield luxuries.

City finding gaps again, with Nahki Wells really causing problems on the right, this time his ball rolled across the six-yard area just evades Andreas Weimann and is touched behind for a corner.

The resulting set-piece spreads a bit more panic but eventually Cameron Dawson can land on the ball as it ricochets his way.

  16. SUBSTITUTIONpublished at 74 mins

Another Wednesday change, as Elias Kachunga makes way for Adam Reach.

    He can hit one.

Wednesday got themselves down the City right but Josh Windass' cross was too deep and went behind.

Then Kadeem Harris was played in by Barry Bannan but collided with the City keeper Daniel Bentley, and earned himself a booking.

Tad harsh for me. Was just an honest attempt to win the ball in a contact sport.

  18. Postpublished at 69 mins

    Bristol City 1-0 Sheff Wed

Neat interplay from Bristol City's Jack Hunt and Andy Weimann works a ball into the box for Tommy Rowe, who keeps in play. Corner is forced from the subsequent attack.

Cameron Dawson beats away the set-piece but it comes back in, although the referee's whistle spares Wednesday any further concern with a free-kick

  19. SUBSTITUTIONpublished at 67 mins

    Bristol City 1-0 Sheff Wed

So Izzy Brown has been withdrawn by Wednesday, with Fisayo Dele-Bashiru coming on.

Lot of expectation about Dele-Bashiru, his brother was playing for Watford yesterday as well.

What a difference a goal makes. Now City are the team clamping down in midfield, forcing errors and looking to strike.

Wednesday need a reset, get back on the horse and get Kadeem Harris and Izzy Brown taking on City at their end of the field.
