    Bristol City 0-0 Sheff Wed

Sheffield Wednesday's numbers are hopeless. Might as well be written in magic marker. Can't see them from a distance.

They're winning the midfield battle though, ratting out any potential City attacks.

Dean Holden looks like he's heading down to the boozer in his bright white trainers, jeans and shirt/jumper combo.

Garry Monk's in a trackie. Proper football coach attire.

    Exciting...

Wednesday got a corner which was swung in by Barry Bannan, but the header straight at Daniel Bentley.

It looked like City might break from a quick bowl-out but the Owls win it back in midfield.

    Real gusto to the play.

Kadeem Harris did really well for Wednesday to tease his way down the left touchline but delivered a daisy-cutter cross which was then shanked into the stands by Alfie Mawson. Not a cultured clearance.

Wednesday attack again, bit of pin-ball in the City penalty area but it's eventually cleared.

    And breathe.

    Bristol City 0-0 Sheffield Wednesday

Free-kick to Bristol City in a good position about 25 yards out right-side, but it fizzes over the top off the boot of Nahki Wells.

There's a lively pace to this, and it's pretty open. Not one of those cagey games where players are afraid to pass the ball forward by any means.

First chance for Wednesday and no surprises the fulcrum Barry Bannan is behind it.

He approaches the edge of the box, and pirouettes away from a defender before rolling an angled pass for Elias Kachunga to chase into the penalty area.

The ball pushes him a bit wide and Daniel Bentley is out swiftly to block the shot from an acute angle.

He's in that Denmark themed goalie kit, the rainbow one Schmeichel used to wear. Funky.

Andreas Weimann almost in for Bristol City chasing a looped ball over the top but Dominic Iorfa tracked him and got across to clear behind.

The corner for City was far too deep, but Wednesday concede a throw.

Pressure building from the home side now.

Tyreeq Bakinson shot almost for the sake of it there, after Jack Hunt had galloped down the right to create a position for Bristol City.

Won a corner. Cleared. And the 21-year-old had a second bite of the cherry but dragged it wide of Cameron Dawson's right upright.

Plenty of harrying and hassle about Sheffield Wednesday in midfield for the most part though, particularly from Massimo Luongo.

They let them get away on that occasion.

Good chance there for Wednesday, but Kadeem Harris' finish is really tame, after arriving late to attack a fine cross by Liam Palmer on the right. Scuffed it wide.

Both teams looking to put the ball into the channels and get in behind.

Harris has been well shepherded when receiving the ball on the left, while a clip over the top for Elias Kachunga to chase went behind.

Early running made by Bristol City. Jamie Paterson the outlet down the right, being chased into the corner.

He squared it across the edge of the box to Andy Weimann, but the Austrian's slide rule pass into the box for Chris Martin was overhit.

Paterson looks like he will just flit about causing menace to the Wednesday back three.

Sunshine and blue skies over Bristol. Lovely day for it. Pitch looking nice and the sprinklers are jetting out fine spray onto it.

I promise I won't keep banging on about the music but the stadium PA is now getting a workout from Chemical Brothers' 'Galvanise'.

Beauty. Sheffield Wednesday are out onto the pitch.

The fixture list has not been kind to Sheffield Wednesday, as this is their fifth away game of six in all competitions since the new season kicked off at the start of the month.

However, it's not affected their form, as Garry Monk's Owls have lost just once so far, in the Carabao Cup to Premier League side Fulham in midweek, and have four points from a possible six in the Championship. Victory over Cardiff on the opening weekend, and a draw against Watford their record thus far.

They've already trimmed their points deduction deficit down to -8, and have eyes on Wycombe and East Midlands strugglers Nottingham Forest and Derby above them - all yet to obtain a point.

Nice to hear a bit of Massive Attack over the PA system at Ashton Gate.

Bit of local culture there, the Bristolian trip-hoppers. Do people still call it trip-hop? Feels a bit 90s doesn't it?

Anyway, belting tune is 'Unfinished Sympathy'.

Bristol City have been one of the early pacesetters, with an attractive style of football under boss Dean Holden - as promised on his appointment.

Holden was handed the permanent role in the short offseason, despite names such as Steven Gerrard and Chris Hughton being touted for the job.

The faith in the Oldham-born coach was justified on current evidence, as victories against Stoke and Coventry have been earned in positive fashion.

I'm talking about winged birds by the way. Robins, Owls and Canaries to be exact.

It's basically the ingredients for Sunday's Championship fixture list.

Bristol City go up against Sheffield Wednesday in the 13:00 BST kick-off, and later on at 16:00 BST, it's Norwich City and AFC Bournemouth.

Grab yourself some sustenance and settle down for some weekend football *fun.
