Is left-back still an area where City need to improve?

Hugely entertaining game but I've been struck by Leeds' technical director, Victor Orta, in the directors box; he's like a one-man crowd! He is shouting, he's on his feet, he's waving his arms, he's having a go at everyone. It's an extraordinary display!

Everton defender Michael Keane speaking to MOTD: "We knew it would be a really difficult game. They're really good on the ball. We needed to be controlled when defending and we did that. To score four goals as well is always good.

"Maybe we took our foot off the gas and got sloppy but we're top of the league and we're really pleased. I think there is belief in the team we can achieving something special and the new lads have fitted in well."

On James Rodriguez: "He's brilliant. He's settled in straight away. Also [Abdoulaye] Doucoure and Allan - who didn't play today. Gylfi Sigurdsson and Tom Davies were outstanding too. Having the competition brings out the best in everyone."

On the Merseyside derby: "We're looking forward to the derby. Such a shame the fans wont be here. International duty first but it'll be likely both teams will have won all their games, so looking forward to it."

FI BinBag Jez: Really struggling to understand the hype on Phillips. Okay this is a tough game. But most games I've seen him play he loses the ball a lot when trying to pass forwards. Taking Pirlo’s name in vain.

Ourhandsaretied: Why is Raheem Sterling turning around and waving his arms around like a petulant child every time the ball doesn't go to him? I swear he doesn't do this usually...

Well Leeds should be level! And they would be if it wasn't for Ederson. Benjamin Mendy has a brain fade, trying to bring down a diagonal pass and only succeeding in playing it on to Luke Ayling, who's clean through. Ayling shoots but, just as he did with Stuart Dallas, Ederson spreads himself brilliantly to make the save.

Top keeping.

He's not exactly relaxed, Marcelo Bielsa. Prowling around and then back into his crouch. His side have looked as sharp as ever so far until the last 20 yards.

Richard Humphries: Let's be fair here, all but the most optimistic Leeds fans expect a defeat here. We need not get carried away as a newly promoted side, these are not the games we need to win this season.

Leeds are actually up over 50% of the possession now which, given how high City's numbers were at the start of the game, shows you the pattern of the play at the moment.

City have had 12 shots on goal though, Leeds just three.

Manchester City have had enough chances to virtually have this game won already but at one nil, Leeds United are still a threat.

It's a really good match this. City were nearly pegged back but then come down the other end, Phil Foden is able to work the ball onto his left foot and he then rattles in a shot that fools the person on the crowd sound box. Yeaaahhhhhooooohhhhhh - just over.

And now Leeds do break through on goal and Ederson makes a great save! A lovely flowing move ends with Stuart Dallas galloping in to the area, he's in on goal and tries to lift the finish, but Ederson makes himself massive and beats it out.

Ben Kellow: City need more than a one-goal cushion. Leeds are dangerous.

Mamadou Bah: City positively angry, but shocks on the cards here. A flip of that card from Bielsa and Leeds, and City will be sunk.

Not sure that was necessary - Benjamin Mendy trips Helder Costa from behind as he motors over the halfway line but there were three City defenders around him, A daft booking.

Leeds are having their best spell of the game, they look lively and fluid but it's just the final pass that is the difference at the moment. Benjamin Mendy should have played Raheem Sterling in on goal after a sharp counter attack but his pass is delayed and Sterling is offside.
