    Leeds 0-0 Manchester City

First glimpse of Ferran Torres and it's a good one as he waltzes past a defender on the right wing and nearly finds Riyad Mahrez inside.

City with 68% of the early ball, a taste of their own medicine for Leeds so far.

Chris Lambo: A customary Benjamin Mendy error to gift Leeds a late winner. You heard it here first.

Rob Bown: There's been a lot of talk about City lately after the Leicester game, but look at that line-up and depth. Seen a lot of negativity which is expected from others, but 'internally' too with 'our own fans’. Excited for this year.

  3. HITS THE WOODWORKpublished at 4 mins

    Leeds 0-0 Manchester City

What an effort! City have a free-kick wide on the left, everyone is waiting for a cross and Kevin de Bruyne goes for goal instead.

He whips it in at the near post, Leeds keeper Illan Meslier is struggling, loses his footing actually, and the ball cannons away off the post.

    Leeds 0-0 Manchester City

Raheem Sterling is playing as the most central attacker for City early on and he curls one over the top from the Yeboah end. Very good start from the visitors.

City straight into their flow with a lovely zipping move from left to right. Kevin de Bruyne and Phil Foden are involved as Kyle Walker eventually hits a deflected shot away for a corner.

  6. 'We are punished for not too much'published at 17:30 British Summer Time 3 October 2020

    Everton 4-2 Brighton

    Brighton & Hove Albion

Brighton boss Graham Potter, speaking to MOTD: "I don't think Everton had so many chances but we helped them, second half certainly. To concede just before half time was a blow for us and then we didn't start the second half so well.

"I think we contributed a little bit to our downfall today and that is something we need to be better at.

"No problem with the players, they kept going and kept trying. Decision making in the second half is where we could do better.

"We have conceded all our goals against Chelsea, Manchester United and Everton and they are want you consider to be top sixish teams.

"We are punished for not too much and at the same time today we contributed a bit ourselves."

Jay J Watson: I do really feel for Pickford - the goalkeeping position is really unique as mistakes are so much more visible and often brutally punished in a way no other position is.

  10. 'This is the moment of Dominic Calvert-Lewin'published at 17:28 British Summer Time 3 October 2020

    Everton 4-2 Brighton

    Everton

Everton boss Carlo Ancelotti, speaking to MOTD: "Brighton played well. We played well also. We managed the situation of the game well. We had composure defensively and had opportunities on the counter attack. The performance was complete and this was the reason we deserved to win."

On James Rodriguez: "As I said on the first day, the players with quality have not a problem with that (settling in). The quality is there because football is not so complicated. The pitch is always the same, the opponents are always 11, the ball is the same, the goal doesn't move. Football is simple. It is not complicated."

On Dominic Calvert-Lewin's impressive start to the season: "There is not just one reason. He is confident, we are seeing him improving and he is scoring goals and that is the most important motivation for a striker. This is the moment of Dominic Calvert-Lewin now.

"We are optimistic now for 15 days because there is a break but then we will have a fantastic test, the most difficult test against our neighbours."

  11. 'The scoreline's quite heavy'published at 17:27 British Summer Time 3 October 2020

    Everton 4-2 Brighton

    Brighton & Hove Albion

Brighton manager Graham Potter speaking to BT Sport: "It’s disappointing to concede the goals we had. We did well to get it back to 1-1 and might have been the better team at that point, but the second goal was a bitter blow for us.

"The scoreline’s quite heavy. I think in terms of possession and shots we did quite well but we conceded four, so that’s a problem.

"They’ve invested quite a lot of money over the last four windows, so they’ve got a very big squad and some quality players. I thought we did some things well, but too many errors against this type of quality can make it a difficult afternoon.

"We’re a little bit disappointed with only three points so far. That’s what we have to work towards - to turn those performances into points against the top teams. That’s the challenge."

Leeds v Manchester City (17:30 BST)

The Manchester City players congregate in the tunnel at a freezing-looking Elland Road. It's the case everywhere around the country of course but what a shame there's no fans in for this one.

  14. 'We were our own worst enemy'published at 17:23 British Summer Time 3 October 2020

    Cheslea 4-0 Crystal Palace

    Crystal Palace

Crystal Palace boss Roy Hodgson speaking to BBC Match of the Day: "We really gifted the goals today. There was some very unusual and poor defensive errors. In the first half, the performance off the ball was good but on the ball it was never good enough today.

"We were our own worst enemy today, with the two penalties. The only one you could say [was a good goal] was the Zouma header, from a looping cross, but even there you would hope your centre backs could deal with it. In the end we find ourselves on the end of a heavy beating.

"As a team we were nowhere near as good as we need to be to come to Chelsea and cause them problems."

On Tyrick Mitchell: "We like him very much. He was one of the players in the team today who could come off the field with his head held high but he won't because he caught Abraham. He will learn from that and he was one of the bright spots in our team."

  15. Ruben Dias straight in for Man Citypublished at 17:23 British Summer Time 3 October 2020

Leeds v Manchester City (17:30 BST)

    Phil McNulty
BBC Sport chief football writer at Elland Road

A few eyebrows have been raised at Pep Guardiola's decision to give Ruben Dias an instant debut and this will be quite a test against the pace, mobility and dynamism of Marcelo Bielsa's Leeds United.

He is, however, a £65m international defender who learned his trade at Benfica so you would hope this occasion would not be too much for him.

Ferran Torres also gets the chance to show what all the fuss was about when he signed from Valencia.

  16. 'We're a work in progress'published at 17:21 British Summer Time 3 October 2020

    Cheslea 4-0 Crystal Palace

    Chelsea

Chelsea manager Frank Lampard speaking to BBC Match of the Day: “I thought it was comfortable. The difference between the first and second was that our play in the final third was a lot brighter. We mixed it up, we started to play and got it out to Ben Chilwell who was begging for the ball more than we found him the first half. Callum [Hudson-Odoi] was prepared to go one v one rather than coming inside so there were things at half time that I felt were safe and once we changed it we were alright.

"We’re searching a bit at the moment, players are at different levels of fitness. Tammy [Abraham] played with exuberance and is fit but looking at players coming from different leagues, Kai Havertz was fantastic today, covering a lot of ground. He’s going to be such a player for this club.

“There is a lot of reactionary stuff about us because of expectation. After West Brom people wanted to react. I don’t and even after today I won’t react too much, we are still working.

“I do think people have to remain calm. That’s how I have to be. I can’t get caught up in it. It’s my job not to be reactionary and not get too upset or down. We got a lot of credit for coming fourth and now people have to stay calm, we are not going to go from there to 100 instantly. We are a work in progress but I am up for that work and so are the players."

On Tammy Abraham wanting to take a penalty: "I don’t mind Tammy’s exuberance but that has been dealt with by Azpilicueta and then me in the dressing room. I don’t mind a bit of conflict in the moment but it has been dealt with and won’t happen again."

MrGoodey: Those hating Everton are the same that would be singing about the "league being over" if the likes of Liverpool/Man City had the start like Everton have had. One of the top European managers, decent players all over the pitch and potentially the signing of the season.

Michael Reid: Don't get people moaning about the Everton hype. They can only play against who they've been drawn against - and they're doing it well. All the big teams can easily lose to teams in the bottom half of the table. Fair play to Everton.

  18. 'I always believed I could get here'published at 17:14 British Summer Time 3 October 2020

    Everton 4-2 Brighton

    Everton

Everton striker Dominic Calvert-Lewin speaking to BT Sport: "I think today, particularly in the second half, we didn’t play that well. The best teams win when they’re not always on top. We’re confident, creating chances and scoring goals."

On his early-season form: "I think it's about self-belief. I always believed that I could get here. Sometimes it’s about age and maturity. I've been patient, now I’m reaping my rewards."

On his England call-up: "It’s something I’ve dreamt about and been working very hard for. I’m ready to go in and make my mark."

On James Rodriguez: "He’s a top player. You see when he gets on the ball the quality he's got. He opens up spaces for other people on the pitch."

Can Everton do a "Leicester" this season? They certainly have the manager and the players.

    Sergio. London

For years we have struggled to score goals. Even when we were doing OK with Moyes. I don't think for one minute we will win the league. Champions league, unsure. Europe, definitely. Doesn't stop me taking a screenshot every time we are top though!
