    Leeds 0-1 Manchester City

He's basically playing in defence, this Leeds keeper. The modern way.

  2. Leeds struggling to hang onpublished at 18:00 British Summer Time 3 October 2020

    Phil McNulty
BBC Sport chief football writer at Elland Road

Manchester City are all over Leeds United, who are not helping with some high risk stuff at the back. Goalkeeper Illan Meslier has been the chief culprit, his misplaced clearance starting the move for Sterling's goal was not his first mistake.

City, perhaps stung into action by the 5-2 humiliation at home to Leicester City, look in the mood.

  3. Postpublished at 26 mins

    Leeds 0-1 Manchester City

Leeds' coaching staff are on their feet after a bright passage of play forces City backwards for once. The hosts can't test Ederson though.

Bresla Stephenson: The apprentice is teaching the master a lesson here.

    Chelsea Warrior: City. Look. Angry.

Simon Atkins: Everyone remember, Man City were flying when they went ahead vs Leicester, and we all know how that ended!

    Leeds 0-1 Manchester City

Much better from Leeds as Mateusz Klich gallops through midfield and combines with Helder Costa to free Patrick Bamford. He's wide on the left of the area and can't wrap his foot around it though, slicing it into the stands.

  6. 'City deserve lead'published at 17:52 British Summer Time 3 October 2020

    Leeds 0-1 Manchester City

I was going to say it's a wonder we haven't had a goal in this match but we have now. A great piece of work by Raheem Sterling, dropped his shoulder and went past Liam Cooper and hit his low, right-footed shot beyond the diving Illan Meslier. Manchester City deserve the lead. They've created quite a number of chances.

  7. CLOSE!published at 21 mins

    Leeds 0-1 Manchester City

City could have had three or four already - Aymeric Laporte now thumps a header back across goal and just wide from a corner, before Raheem Sterling finds Phil Foden and he drags a shot wide.

Marcelo Bielsa must have quads of steel, that crouch he does can't be good for you. He's pacing up and down now trying to convey some instructions. 'Get the ball' would be a start. Easier said than done.

Colin Bundred: Leeds look like they are in for a long afternoon.

Fabian Crusoe: Most City fans you hear from are either Johnny Come Latelys or have VERY short memories. The moaning they do. Their squad is ridiculous, EASILY the best in the Prem, and I’m a Liverpool fan. They’re spoilt.

  10. goal

GOAL - Leeds 0-1 Manchester Citypublished at 17:47 British Summer Time 3 October 2020

    Raheem Sterling (17 mins)

There just had to be a goal, it was a tidal wave of attacks and Raheem Sterling has put City ahead in style. Out on the left, he cuts inside Luke Ayling again, Liam Cooper rushes out to make a block and he's left on his heels by a lovely bodyswerve, and then the England man just flashes a shot into the bottom corner. Textbook.

  11. CLOSE!published at 15 mins

    Leeds 0-0 Manchester City

No idea how this is still 0-0! Raheem Sterling weaves past Luke Ayling inside the area and cuts it back, Ferran Torres runs onto it and smashes in a shot that Stuart Dallas does superbly to hack away from on the line.

Already City on top. Leeds might have to play their brand of football selectively this season to safeguard their Premiership status.

Rubbish isn't it. Looking forward to hearing from Steve Bruce at about 11pm tonight.

And there's a great chance for Leeds now! Wing-back Ezgjan Alioski is all alone at the far post and heads over. Should have at least made Ederson work.

Skully: These staggered kick-offs have ruined fantasy football. Half the time you've got no players involved. At least it looks to be ending soon. Until then I'm watching classic Coronation Street.

  15. YELLOW CARDpublished at 12 mins

    Leeds 0-0 Manchester City

Mike Dean has the yellow card out as Patrick Bamford catches Aymeric Laporte with a a swinging arm.

  16. CLOSE!published at 11 mins

    Leeds 0-0 Manchester City

Not the best ball out from keeper Illan Meslier and Kevin de Bruyne is suddenly in on the Leeds defence. His shot is blocked away and from the corner debutant Ruben Dias should head City ahead bu slides it wide of the post.

    Free header!

  17. Fast start by Man Citypublished at 17:39 British Summer Time 3 October 2020

    Phil McNulty

Manchester City have flown out of the blocks here. Some promising early signs from Ferran Torres and Leeds United currently struggling to get out of their own half.

  19. Postpublished at 9 mins

Ferran Torres and Kyle Walker link up well again down the City right. Absolute pace on that side. Liam Cooper is then well placed to clear - Leeds really under the cosh.

Alan Ferguson: KDB thinks he’s Gary McAllister trying that cheeky free-kick.

Hamza De Bruyne: Leeds panicking already.

Simon Atkins: Leeds playing Man City at the worst possible time, as they come off the back of a heavy home defeat. This could get ugly.
