Jack Grealish is dumped on the deck by Ethan Ampadu, but he's going to be OK. He's usually the most fouled man in every game he plays.

  6. Wales prioritising Nations Leaguepublished at 21:06 British Summer Time 8 October 2020

    England 1-0 Wales

    Dafydd Pritchard
    BBC Sport Wales

Ryan Giggs said yesterday that his priority for this international period would not be this game but Wales' two Nations League matches to come, against the Republic of Ireland and Bulgaria.

Perhaps that is what's behind the half-time substitution of centre-back Joe Rodon.

The Spurs target is a classy player but can be prone to injury, so Giggs has taken the precautionary measure of replacing him with his Swansea City team-mate Ben Cabango.

Wales' other change at the break is Manchester United midfielder Dylan Levitt on for Joe Morrell.

  10. 'Picking on form has gone in Southgate's favour'published at 21:00 British Summer Time 8 October 2020

    England 1-0 Wales

    Karen Carney
Former England and Chelsea winger on BBC Radio 5 Live

It's been a fluid formation for England, even Jack Grealish playing on the left and then sometimes in that number 10 role. I would rather just see him play in the number 10 pocket, I think that's where he's at his best because he is better when he can just go wherever he wants.

But today, the most in-form players in the Premier League, Dominic Calvert-Lewin and Grealish have provided the goal so picking on league form has worked in Gareth Southgate's favour tonight.

  11. 'Wales need to get forward'published at 20:59 British Summer Time 8 October 2020

    HT England 1-0 Wales

    Joe Ledley
Former Wales midfielder on BBC Radio Wales

The final third has been a little bit disappointing.

That's because Wales haven't had enough bodies in the box, so that front three really need to get forward.

It's sad it took injuries and withdrawls to get Grealish in the England team the boy is England's most creative player, yet overlooked for no apparent reason.

    Anis

If calvert lewin keeps up this form England could easily have 5 forwards all valued over 100m.

    Dean

As a Man U fan, I would have offered Everton the supposedly £80mil quoted and forgot about Sancho... and sold Pogba too!

  15. 'Wales spirited and confident'published at 20:53 British Summer Time 8 October 2020

    HT England 1-0 Wales

    Danny Gabbidon
Former Wales defender on BBC Radio Wales

Wales started the game well and controlled it.

I thought we were moving the ball well, keeping possession and defending fairly well.

England take a free-kick quickly, Wales switch off and you can't give a player in Calvert-Lewin's form that kind of space.

It has been a spirited, confident performance from Wales but that goal was disappointing.

It's not been the best game but it's been competitive and Dominic Calvert-Lewin is the latest to take a knock, nutting the head of Joe Rodon but they are both going to be OK. If deadline day reports are anything to go by Rodon may well be joining DCL in the Premier League soon.

I'm gutted to see him go off.

He's been a big threat for us. I would've liked to have seen Daniel James come on.

But it looks like it's Neco Williams.
