Bosnia-Herzegovina 1-1 Northern Ireland (4-3 pens)
Northern Ireland manager Ian Baraclough tells Sky Sports: "I did not think we were great in the first half, we talked about getting in their faces, putting them under pressure and for some reason that did not happen. We got a foothold in the game and then being more forceful in attack. We thought we could get at them and certainly looked shaky with crosses in the box. I was delighted with Niall McGinn's industry to get into the box and then the calm finish.
"I just felt he had a goal in him for some reason. I watched him in training and it made my mind up, he was bright and you could see there was a hunger there. I came in with eight or nine players in mind to start and luckily enough Niall put his hand up and said come and pick me.
"We had a gameplan, it is something we worked on. Who is the best penalty takers? Go and practice, put it where yoiu want to put it and don't change your mind. We needed to get Conor Washington and Liam Boyce on and Jordan Jones and Jordan Thompson were selfless, we knew they were not the stronger penalty takers.
"It is a fitting night for Steven Davis, he probably feels a lot of pressure on his shoulders. He is delighted to reach that milestone and for him I cannot be more pleased. What he has given Norther Ireland football has been second to none. When results were not going our way, he turned up. friendly matches, he turned up and he can enjoy his night tonight.
"Let me get tonight out of the way, we will enjoy this and we have to get ready for Sunday. Let's see if we can get points in the Nations League, make sure the players are rested and think about Slovakia tomorrow."
Bosnia-Herzegovina 1-1 Northern Ireland (4-3 pens)
Northern Ireland goalscorer Niall McGinn tells Sky Sports: "Unbelievable, what a feeling and delighted to score the goal to get back into the game.
"The team spirit has been brilliant, for the boys to step up and score the penalties was unbelievable. What a night and that one was for the fans.
"They put us under a lot of pressure,it is a tough place to come and they have a lot of good players but all in all, the character we showed, we regrouped at half time improved in the second half. We are one step closer.
"I have been training hard and working hard and fair play to the manager for selecting me and I repaid the faith with the goal. I have always been renowned for scoring important goals and that is another one.
"Buzzing. Bailey Peacock-Farrell has been brilliant and made the save before Liam Boyce stepped up to convert. It sets us up nicely for the next few days. We will definitely enjoy it with one drink or two.
"It will bring huge confidence to the squad, we have been here before so to come here and get a huge win, they might have been made strong favorites but we are ready to rock in Belfast next month."
Slovakia 0-0 Republic of Ireland (4-2 pens)
Quote MessageIt's never nice to lose on penalties and it is a tough one to take. It's disappointing. We created chances but it didn't drop for us and it wasn't our night. It went the whole way and both teams cancelled each other out. It's a hard one to take at the minute and it is heartbreaking. Our lads were brave stepping up and we knew the pressure in the game. You've got to give them credit for taking one and we'll hopefully bounce back from this and go again.
