    Brilliant stop.

Slovakia close to breaking the deadlock in first-half injury-time as Ondrej Duda cuts onto his right peg and curls a low shot towards the far corner but Darren Randolph stretches to his left to tip the ball away from goal.

    All Bosnia.

Skipper Edin Dzeko holds the ball up and lays it off for goalscorer Rade Krunic, but the low shot is an easy gather for Bailey Peacock-Farrell.

    Bosnia-Herzegovina 1-0 Northern Ireland

Bosnia's front three are very dangerous.

The experienced Edin Dzeko breaks clear but does not have the pace in his legs anymore so feeds Istanbul Basaksehir man Edin Visca.

He finds Miralem Pjanic on the edge of the box but the carefully-placed strike deflects over.

  11. Cagey opening in Bratislavapublished at 20:11 British Summer Time 8 October 2020

    Slovakia 0-0 Republic of Ireland

    John Haughey
    BBC Sport

With Stephen Kenny's desire that his Republic of Ireland side play a possession-based game, it's been a cagey opening in Bratislava.

Both sides have produced some neat passing but there hasn't been a chance of note yet.

The Republic do look to have a bit more brawn than the hosts but it's an even contest so far.

  12. CLOSE!published at 20:11 British Summer Time 8 October 2020

    Bosnia-Herzegovina 1-0 Northern Ireland

    Would have been all over.

Northern Ireland the architects of their own downfall again, presenting the ball to Bosnia deep in their own box.

The ball falls to Barcelona midfielder Miralem Pjanic 25 yards out and he drills a low shot inches wide of the post.

Bailey Peacock-Farrell had waved it goodbye.

    Quote Message

Northern Ireland are starting to come into the game more after a disappointing start. They have settled down a little bit. All the players are starting to get a touch on the ball but they need to dictate the pace more. The next goal is vital. If Bosnia get it the game is probably over. If Northern Ireland score next then they are right back in it.

Josh Magennis is causing the Bosnia backline problems with his industry in the box.

The striker buzzes around and the defenders panic, scuffing a clearance to Corry Evans on the edge of the box, but the Blackburn midfielder in turn scuffs wide.

And that shows you why Konyaspor keeper Ibrahim Sehic is keeping Bournemouth's Asmir Begovic out of the side.

Northern Ireland could have levelled immediately!

Corry Evans swings in a perfect cross into the box, Josh Magennis leaps to meet it with a powerful header but Bosnia goalkeeper Ibrahim Sehic springs low to his right to make an incredible stop.

    Rade Krunic

Awful all round from Northern Ireland to be honest.

There is no danger when Branimir Cipetic picks up a long punt down the right, but visiting defender Jonny Evans slips over and it proves very costly.

The Bosnia full-back gets into the box, looks up to see Rade Krunic free on the penalty spot and the AC Milan man slots home.

OK, first attacking opportunity for Northern Ireland as they get a free-kick in a promising position.

Oh, it is so poor from Paddy McNair, overhitting the set-piece which sails straight out of play.

Have to be doing better when they get chances in the final third.

The Republic have defending to do too but Ondrej Duda's delivery is headed away.

Marek Hamsik still going strong for Slovakia.
