    Quote Message

Edin Dzeko is getting a lot more room now. His first touch and set-up play is excellent. Northern Ireland are starting to look tired, a little bit jaded. They need to hold onto the ball, take the sting out of the game and give themselves a breather as Bosnia are upping the tempo. Spaces are opening up and the legs are going. Northern Ireland have to concentrate, especially in the back four. They don't want to give anything away cheaply.

  13. CLOSE!published at 21:14 British Summer Time 8 October 2020

    Slovakia 0-0 Republic of Ireland

Big chance for the Republic to break the deadlock as Enda Stevens finds Matt Doherty in the box, but the Tottenham man's shot is kept out by Slovakia goalkeeper Marek Rodak.

What a match this has become since half-time.

Northern Ireland were right on it at the start of the second half and they deserved the equaliser from Niall McGinn.

The experienced Aberdeen winger has a spring in his step now and just moments later he skipped past his man down the left and produced a great cross that Paddy McNair headed just wide under pressure.

International matches do not always become end to end in the way this one has, and it’s difficult to know how a match of this nature will suit Ian Baraclough’s men – but at least they are back in it.

Pjanic is still very dangerous – as his free-kick against the crossbar showed – and NI could maybe do with the pace settling for a while as the hosts look like getting on top again.

  15. CLOSE!published at 21:12 British Summer Time 8 October 2020

    Bosnia-Herzegovina 1-1 Northern Ireland

    NI get away with one.

Goalkeeper Bailey Peacock-Farrell comes, stops, comes and is in no-man's land.

Edin Dzeko latches on to Miralem Pjanic's ball over the top, but lobs his shot wide of the post.

  16. CLOSE!published at 21:10 British Summer Time 8 October 2020

    Bosnia-Herzegovina 1-1 Northern Ireland

Bosnia totting up the efforts now.

Goalscorer Rade Krunic cuts onto his dangerous right peg again but curls a shot straight at Bailey Peacock-Farrell.

    Just over 20 minutes remaining.

    Bosnia-Herzegovina 1-1 Northern Ireland

Bosnia work a corner, drifting it to Amir Hadziahmetovic on the edge of the box.

He puts it back into to the far post for Edin Visca, who volleys over.

  19. Slovakia picking up the pacepublished at 21:08 British Summer Time 8 October 2020

    Slovakia 0-0 Republic of Ireland

    John Haughey
    BBC Sport

After finishing the first half strongly, the hosts have continued to pick up the pace after the break. Republic midfielder Conor Hourihane had to make a crucial intervention to deny Ondrej Duda as the home side's intricate play was finally starting to threaten the Irish. But the scoreline remains 0-0 so still all to play for.

  20. GREAT SAVE!published at 21:07 British Summer Time 8 October 2020

    Bosnia-Herzegovina 1-1 Northern Ireland

Bosnia have ridden out the storm of conceding a second goal and threaten the NI goal again.

Amir Hadziahmetovic strides forward from midfield and his drive is pushed away by Bailey Peacock-Farrell.
