  1. Everton still looking to reinforcepublished at 08:42 British Summer Time 5 October 2020

Everton sit proudly on top of the Premier League going into the international break - but that is not stopping manager Carlo Ancelotti looking to add to his squad today.

He is expected the confirm the £25m signing of Norwich City's England under-21 defender Ben Godfrey, while the departure of striker Moise Kean to Paris St. Germain on loan means he may also be looking at filling that vacancy.

It is a question of whether Ancelotti feels he needs more or is prepared to go with Turkey striker Cenk Tosun as cover.

Names mentioned as possible arrivals in that area include Napoli forward Arkadiusz Milik along with his team-mate and former Spurs striker Fernando Llorente,

Bournemouth's Joshua King was another name doing the rounds yesterday but Tosun will hope Ancelotti shows faith, with the manager also having Theo Walcott to call on (though more on him in a minute).

Everton have also been linked to Roma keeper Pau Lopez on loan - not as a replacement for out-of-form Jordan Pickford but to add competition.

  2. 'We do lack creativity'published at 08:40 British Summer Time 5 October 2020

    Arsenal

    Akhil Vyas, Arsenal Supporters Trust:

Arsenal have had a decent window although I think the Thomas Partey and Houssem Aouar situation may cloud some of the really positive stuff we did earlier.

Gabriel looks like a real player and someone that can play at the back for years to come. Willian started well but most importantly, we signed up Auba. Where would we be without him?

We do lack creativity and Mikel Arteta has a big job to get us playing in a more fluid style but we certainly look more solid at the back which is something we've been calling for, for years.

  3. Aouar says he's staying at Lyonpublished at 08:38 British Summer Time 5 October 2020

On deadline day there is always a chance of a late twist of course but on French TV last night, Arsenal target Houssem Aouar said he’s staying at Lyon.

The talented 22 year-old has been strongly linked to the Gunners throughout the summer, with Juventus and Real Madrid also being mentioned.

But Lyon President Jean-Michel Aulas (one of the best negotiators in the game) set a deadline of Saturday lunchtime for any deal to be done and after the 1-1 draw against Marseille yesterday evening, Aouar gave 'Telefoot La Chaine' his version of why he’s staying.

He said: “First of all I felt I could still offer something to the team and the club, so quite simply I wanted to continue the adventure with the club that started my career and I hope we will get our heads up quickly because we owe it to ourselves to do much better.”

Jadon Sancho seems certain to remain at Borussia Dortmund when the transfer window closes this evening.

United made the England winger their number one transfer target.

However, Dortmund have consistently said they would not sell the 20-year-old once their own 10 August deadline for Sancho passed.

United regarded that as an arbitrary deadline and felt there was still a chance of completing the transfer.

There was no agreement over a fee though – and as the days have gone on, Dortmund’s stance has not changed.

BBC Sport understands that remains the case this morning, meaning it would take something quite extraordinary for a deal to be resurrected at this late stage.

  12. How will Man Utd bosses react?published at 08:18 British Summer Time 5 October 2020

    BBC Sport

There were no supporters inside Old Trafford on Sunday but if Ed Woodward happened to leave the stadium via the exit behind the Stretford End, he would have seen a banner with a rather uncomfortable message: 'Glazers Out, Woodward Out - Over £1bn stolen from MUFC.'

Only a handful of supporters were present - but their sentiments are expressed by many, many more.

Their team had just been humiliated by opponents managed by Jose Mourinho, a man who was sacked by United in December 2018, as the club hierarchy felt no progress was being made after a second-placed finish the previous season.

That summer, Mourinho had fallen out with the club over their recruitment, so how will they react today?

Ole Gunnar Solskjaer suffered his "worst day as Manchester United manager" on Sunday as his side were humiliated 6-1 at home by Tottenham.

A woeful performance saw United carved open at the back time and time again, with skipper Harry Maguire and left-back Luke Shaw contributing to one of the most embarrassing defensive performances witnessed.
