  1. 'Glaring mistakes at Fulham'published at 18:56 British Summer Time 5 October 2020

    Fulham

    Ben Jarman, the Fulhamish Podcast:

Overall, there have been glaring mistakes from the outset at Fulham, who have neglected signing a centre-half until the last day of the window despite needing reinforcements since promotion.

There are green shoots though, Kenny Tete from Lyon looks to be a solid addition as does the recently acquired Ademola Lookman.

But Fulham must sign a centre-half today, failure to do so would be catastrophic for the club.

There have been a host of players linked across the week, and we should expect to see one or two of them come in today in the shape of Joachim Andersen and Timo Baumgartl. Jean-Clair Todibo has been linked, but seemingly has no real interest in joining so Fulham should turn their focus elsewhere. Another winger would also be a bonus.

I know we have not seen him in action yet but I still think the Gareth Bale deal is amazing.

We all know what he can do - he's won four Champions Leagues, he lit up the Premier League last time he was here and everyone is just excited to see him.

I'm just glad I don't have to face him again as he twisted me up on more than a few occasions.

Even if he is just 75% of the player he was, defenders - look out for Gareth Bale.

  6. Partey 'almost certain' to happenpublished at 18:38 British Summer Time 5 October 2020

BBC Radio 5 Live senior football reporter

I’m told the Thomas Partey move to Arsenal is “almost certain” to happen according to sources close to the player which will be great news for Mikel Arteta.

It takes longer than 25 minutes to tax your car online. Surely you can't complete a transfer in that time?

  8. Smalling move back on?published at 18:35 British Summer Time 5 October 2020

    Simon Stone

Chris Smalling’s on-off move to AS Roma from Manchester United is back on.

After a day of waiting for developments, an agreement over a fee appears to have been reached which would allow the deal to go through.

However, with the Italian transfer window closing at 1900 BST, there is now a race against time to get all the paperwork done.

  10. A better attacking full-back?published at 18:31 British Summer Time 5 October 2020

    Carteret AnalyticImage source, Carteret Analytic

According to data from Carteret Analytic, Alex Telles will provide a greater attacking threat for Manchester United from the full-back position than either Luke Shaw and Brandon Williams.

However, according to their data, Telles is weaker than both Williams and Shaw defensively, suggesting his strength will be in games where Manchester United are expecting to dominate their teams and be able to attack more.

  11. Are Leeds done after Raphinha?published at 18:29 British Summer Time 5 October 2020

    Rodrigo (centre)Image source, Getty Images

It was only a few days ago that Leeds were pulling out of a deal for Michael Cuisance, a central midfielder from Bayern Munich.

A move for Rennes' Brazilian winger Raphinha for a reported £17m is clearly not an alternative to this, unless Marcelo Bielsa fancies taking on a serious remodelling job.

Throughout this window, Leeds have been linked with either number 10s and, more recently, number 8s. Rodrigo de Paul was heavily linked but that has seemingly fizzled out.

With the centre-back position covered in the form of Robin Koch and Diego Llorente and Rodrigo bought to provide competition for Patrick Bamford, if Leeds are to add anyone else after Raphinha it is sure to be someone who can add strength and creativity to the middle of midfield.

Before broadening their sights this summer, all the early talk in the window was of buying the best players from the Championship. They could well revisit strategy if today passes without further movement.

    Micah Richards
Former Man City defender on BBC Sport

Imagine Harry Kane, Son Heung-min and Gareth Bale together if they are all playing well. Imagine that - I think that could be one of the best partnerships in the league.

Teams are going to be frightened of them.

I won't mention the result from the other day but everyone knows what the score was. So I'm excited for Spurs, I really am.

  14. Spurs in for Rodonpublished at 18:25 British Summer Time 5 October 2020

    Tottenham Hotspur

Swansea City are expecting an offer from Tottenham Hotspur for Wales defender Joe Rodon.

Spurs are looking to sign a centre-back in this transfer window and are interested in the 22-year-old.

Swansea are likely to be looking for a bid of around £18-20m before agreeing to sell their prize asset.

Tottenham had been considering a loan move for Chelsea defender Antonio Rudiger and have been linked with Inter Milan's Milan Skriniar.

Top three transfers of the window? I would have to go with James Rodriguez.

He has just been a revelation. What a player he is.

I am not one of these people jumping on the bandwagon. I've had him in my fantasy league team from the get go.

I knew he was quality and would perform, he just needed some lovin' and Carlo Ancelotti has certainly given him that. He is my number one, definitely.

There is an agreement on the table between (Manchester City defender) Eric Garcia and Barcelona, there has been for a long while. It is just a matter for Barcelona to put a bigger offer on the table than they have done already. Their last few offers have simply not been good enough. Their last offer was £5 million, plus £10m in variables (add-ons). It could go up to even £18m, with variables. We will have to see as Eric Garcia is more than happy to go to Barcelona, as everybody knows.

(It has previously been reported by the BBC that Manchester City want £30m for the Spanish defender)
