  1. GREAT SAVE!published at 78 mins

    Southampton 2-0 Everton

This could get worse for Everton. Southampton come through the middle and Nathan Redmond moves it on to Stuart Armstrong.

He tries to pick out Che Adams but it's taken away from him just as he's about to shoot.

From the corner, Jannik Vestergaard pulls away from Anthony Gordon and forces a fingertip save from Jordan Pickford. Good save from the Everton keeper!

Kyle Walker-Peters is waiting to come on as James Ward-Prowse takes the resulting free-kick.

  3. 'It's late, it's naughty'published at 15:32 Greenwich Mean Time 25 October 2020

    Southampton 2-0 Everton

    Karen Carney
Former England and Chelsea winger on BBC Radio 5 Live

Looking at Lucas Digne he seems to be saying 'I tripped' - I think he was frustrated. It's late, it's naughty. He's basically got his right foot and gone down the back of Kyle Walker-Peters ankle and for me that is a red card. I'm not sure how he could've tripped - I don't think he meant it but it was dangerous and that could've caused issues. It's the right decision.

  5. RED CARD - Lucas Dignepublished at 72 mins

    Southampton 2-0 Everton

Uh-oh. There is a red but it's not for Bernard. Kyle Walker-Peters tries to get away on the break and he's caught initially from behind by Lucas Digne.

Referee Kevin Friend allows play to go on but Digne fouls him again, scraping the back of his leg with his studs.

It didn't look deliberate but the referee thinks it's dangerous and he's off.

    Southampton 2-0 Everton

Bernard is rash on Nathan Redmond. He needs to be careful because that could have been a second yellow card on another day.

Luckily, Kevin is his Friend today.

Graham: Looks like Southampton are content to try to sit on their 2-0 lead. Not a good idea against a team like Everton, with almost half an hour to play and a very dubious home record.

Syed: So we can officially close any discussion of invicibles for another season

    It's not over yet, Syed...

    Southampton 2-0 Everton

Southampton still look in control but Everton have definitely been better in this half. You feel if they get one back, it could make for a nervy ending if you're a Saints fan.

    Southampton 2-0 Everton

Bernard has been bright since coming on. He escapes down the left and picks out Lucas Digne on the byline.

His cross is lifted in towards Dominic Calvert-Lewin but Southampton bring it out really nicely - Danny Ings spinning away in the middle after Nathan Redmond got a decent touch on it.

  11. 'Brilliant counter attacking football'published at 15:22 Greenwich Mean Time 25 October 2020

    Southampton 2-0 Everton

    Karen Carney
Former England and Chelsea winger on BBC Radio 5 Live

I'm not sure how Danny Ings has missed that, of all players you want in the 6-yard box for a tap in that's who you want Brilliant counter attacking football from Che Adams breaking trough, the ball comes out to Nathan Redmond who slides a pass down the left hand side. Cross comes in it and it took a slight deflection and Ings can't get a toe on it but that would've been 3-0.

  12. YELLOW CARDpublished at 64 mins

    Southampton 2-0 Everton

Bernard comes in late in a 50-50 in midfield and it's right under the referee's nose. He's shown a yellow.

  13. CLOSE!published at 63 mins

Nathan Redmond plays a lovely ball through to Che Adams. Ben Godfrey gets back to nick it off him but it falls just outside the box.

Redmond picks it up and slips it left to Stuart Armstrong. He flashes it across the six-yard box and Danny Ings is INCHES away from touching it in.

He might have been offside but we'll never know.

Andy: Everton have been poor, but people overreacting a little. People said LFC’s season is over because of losing VVD, EFC have no fit RB, No Richarlison. Losing key players is tough for any team

James: Just goes to show how far a team can come with a little faith in their manager. Losing 9-0 this time last year and now 2 up against the top team this year. Liking this fixture so far! We March on.

I kinda had an inkling that Everton's good start was a fluke deep down I wanted them to do well, but the way their playing today is subpar compared to when the season started

Good start from Anthony Gordon as he feeds in Bernard on the left. He jinks inside and could shoot but tries to pick out James Rodriguez in the six-yard area. It's intercepted but that was a nice move from Everton.
