  2. 'More positive from Everton'published at 15:09 Greenwich Mean Time 25 October 2020

    Southampton 2-0 Everton

    Karen Carney
Former England and Chelsea winger on BBC Radio 5 Live

There's definitely been a reaction from Everton. There's a bit more intensity and there's been a tactical tweak. They've had more possession in these first five minutes of the second half than they did in the entire first half. It's more positive from Everton.

    Southampton 2-0 Everton

Ryan Bertrand goes down under contact from Ben Godfrey in the box. He's appealing for a penalty. There didn't look like much in it on first glance.

A VAR check takes place - and concludes it's not a penalty - as play goes on.

    Southampton 2-0 Everton

Everton win a corner on the left and it's played short to Bernard. He passes it back to James Rodriguez but he's offside.

    Southampton 2-0 Everton

Southampton are playing with so much confidence and sharpness. The break hasn't seemed to have disrupted them either.

Danny Ings, to Ryan Bertrand, to Che Adams, back to Ings... James Rodriguez eventually gets a foot in to concede a throw-in.

    Southampton 2-0 Everton

Bernard curls a decent ball in from the left. He picks out Yerry Mina, whose header isn't too far away from Dominic Calvert-Lewin's toe.

    Alex McCarthy gathers it in.

    Southampton 2-0 Everton

Everton need to do better than this!

Straight away Che Adams is in when Everton give it away in the middle. James Rodriguez loses the ball and doesn't react.

Stuart Armstrong feeds it through to Adams but his shot is very tame and it's comfortable for Jordan Pickford.

  9. KICK-OFFpublished at 46 mins

    Southampton 2-0 Everton

    Off we go again.

  10. SUBSTITUTIONpublished at 46 mins

    Southampton 2-0 Everton

Bernard is on for Everton at the break. He replaces Alex Iwobi, who struggled in the first half.

  11. 'Southampton drown you'published at 15:00 Greenwich Mean Time 25 October 2020

    HT: Southampton 2-0 Everton

    Karen Carney
Former England and Chelsea winger on BBC Radio 5 Live

Football is about working hard and having tempo and intensity and that's what Southampton have. They drown you. Everton haven't had a say in this game at all it's been a really good first half. The next goal is important because Southampton do drop points from winning positions. Carlo Ancelotti will be having strong words and they will likely come out with a reaction because they are in good form as well don't forget.

Ryan Bertrand was causing problems for Ben Godfrey the whole way through the first half.

His touchmap below shows how often he was able to get into that left corner and ping in crosses.

  13. 'Everton are missing Coleman'published at 14:55 Greenwich Mean Time 25 October 2020

    HT: Southampton 2-0 Everton

    Karen Carney
Former England and Chelsea winger on BBC Radio 5 Live

Everton are missing Seamus Coleman - the rhythm going forward without Richarlison hasn't been there. We haven't even mentioned Dominic Calvert-Lewin - he's touched the ball three or four times looking at his stats. Coleman is a natural right-back who can attack as well and help James Rodriguez. Ben Godfrey is a brilliant, talented young defender but he's not a right-back. Credit to Southampton they have been superb. The intensity and the game-plan, they have tactically outdone Everton.

Ash Williams: Everton have beaten Brighton, Crystal Palace and West Brom in the first 6 games. You’d think the way people are talking about them they’d beaten Liverpool, Man City and Chelsea

David Ljunggren: Any team with an away strip that ugly deserves to be losing

Consistency is the elusive quality for teams this season. Whoever wins the title will set the record for lowest points tally by PL champions. Going to be a cracking finale!

I agree with Larry. Bit harsh? James Ward-Prowse hit the opener so well and Che Adams' strike took a deflection.

    Hard to stop either.

Larry: Pickford couldn't have done much about either of those goals - people do just love to jump on bandwagons don't they...

Matthew Knights: Everton probably wish Pickford was suspended today. His dire display feels like some kind of justice

Stephen MCP Brogarth: Think the grass must be too long. Only way to explain Everton's performance so far

Oh that is brilliant from 'fine-wine' Danny Ings. He squeezes away from the touchline with some nifty footwork, linking up with Kyle Walker-Peters and lifts it down the line.

    He's been excellent so far.
