Erik Lamela nearly scored a minute ago but now he's off for Gareth Bale.

Tottenham are rattled. Brighton have been the better side in the second half which is why Jose Mourinho has made a change.

It would not surprise me to see Gareth Bale come on soon because they need a spark.

  3. HITS THE WOODWORKpublished at 68 mins

    Tottenham 1-1 Brighton

Great strike! There is the first Tottenham attack of not all half and Erik Lamela thumps the base of the post with a skidder of a shot from 20 yards. Joel Veltman does his best to whallop in a spectacular own goal from the rebound but goalkeeper Robert Sanchez makes a fine reaction save.

I'm sure they'll be queuing up for £10 an hour at Stockley Park (must work weekends and evenings).

Kinjal: What is the point of VAR if they are unwilling to overturn an obvious error from the referee? The referee made a poor decision. And then went to monitor and reaffirmed it. Shocking decision.

Dax: Literally every professional saying that was a foul. When will we see ex professional footballers refereeing or working VAR?

Mistimed! Adam Webster steams on to the corner and has a free header, but he's there too early and can't get a proper header on to it. Gareth Bale's warm-up intensifies.

Kirsty: How do you watch that over and over and say it’s not a foul?

Michael: That is shocking. The ref only gave that as he was embarrassed he missed it. So so poor.

Simeon: I am a Brighton fan but that was a clear foul and what VAR is supposed to correct. That feeble penalty award and now this, just two examples of how the authorities are using VAR all wrong and ruining the game.

  8. SUBSTITUTIONpublished at 66 mins

    Tottenham 1-1 Brighton

Spurs haven't attempted a shot since half time. It's been all Brighton. They swap the injured Solly March for Bernardo.

Now Solly March is hurt, making a challenge. He's hobbling away.

A foul is a foul. For me he doesn't get enough of the ball.

It is poor refereeing. VAR got that right, they told him to go and look at the monitor because it is not right. He has made a mistake and he didn't want to change his decision.

  12. Postpublished at 62 mins

    Tottenham 1-1 Brighton

Jose Mourinho has got a full half hour to prep for his post-match interviews here. Harry Kane look perplexed when ref Graham Scott held up his fingers in a 'tiny' gesture, presumably to suggest there was a small touch on the ball.

Brighton deserve to be level on the balance of play.

    Breaking

    Tottenham 1-1 Brighton

Well! Normally when a referee goes over to the monitor it gets overturned but the goal stands.

What you can say is that after the disputed challenge play went on for a good few passes before the goal.

It does look like a foul though.

  14. VAR

Did Solly March foul Hojbjerg in the build up or did he get the ball? Referee Graham Scott is over to the monitor to have a look. It's tight!

It is a foul by Solly March on Hojbjerg. But Tottenham should not stop. They should play to the whistle. Quite a few players stopped.

  16. goal

GOAL - Tottenham 1-1 Brightonpublished at 20:30 Greenwich Mean Time 1 November 2020

    Tariq Lamptey

Never mind that, it's goal time! What a great goal this is too, lovely football from Brighton. Although Spurs think there is a foul.

Dan Burn turns the ball around the corner to Solly March, his cutback to the edge of the area finds Pascal Gross, who turns it on to Tariq Lamptey - and he finds the bottom corner.

Great finish, but was that a foul?

Pierre-Emile Hojbjerg has probably been Tottenham's best player this season. He snuffs out the danger, he keeps it simple and sometimes he sits in and makes a three. If they lose him it will be a huge blow.

He is one of the unsung heroes. The managers and other players will appreciate the job he does. He does all the horrible stuff that you want in midfield.

The visitors definitely feel they are not getting the rub of the green. Pascal Gross is livid and bellows at the top of his voice after he's penalised for a challenge in midfield,

  20. ouch!

    Tottenham 1-0 Brighton

Spurs midfielder Pierre-Emile Hojbjerg needs some treatment, and it's always a bit worrying when a player is hurt and it's not in a challenge. He just turned to pass the ball square and grimaced, twisted something.

He's going to continue for now.
