Everton boss Willie Kirk - who won the Scottish Cup with Hibernian 10 years ago - is standing in his technical area, in a full cup-final suit.

Man City boss Gareth Taylor - who played for City's men at Wembley in 1999's third-tier play-off final against Gillingham - initially started the game sat back in his seat but has now come out to the touchline too, in a dark grey coat, issuing some instructions.

Hayley Raso does well to get back and nick it off Chloe Kelly after Lucy Bronze had pushed forward on the right again.

It's played long for Nicoline Sorensen to chase on the far side but Demi Stokes does her job.

Everton are backs against the wall, defending at the moment. A few nervous touches.

Chloe Kelly drives straight at the defence and it takes three players to stop her - Lucy Graham eventually clawing it away with a tussle on the ground.

So many interesting aspects of this Manchester City line-up. Alex Greenwood is definitely playing alongside Steph Houghton at centre-back in a back four.

It's pinged over to Rose Lavelle on the left and she combines with Caroline Weir. There's a mistake at the back from Everton and Chloe Kelly picks it up outside the box.

She hits it low but scuffs the effort and it's comfortable for Sandy MacIver. City have started strongly.

There have been lots of signings for Manchester City but Chloe Kelly has really stood out for me. She's that player who gets you off your seat.

Valerie Gauvin hassles Alex Greenwood on the right touchline but the England international turns smartly inside and escapes.

Lucy Bronze then goes on a darting run down the opposite flank but can't find Chloe Kelly on the overlap.

Everton's Valerie Gauvin is wonderfully old-school. If Everton fans don't know much about her, she's a bit like Dominic Calvert-Lewin. She's a fox in the box and has two wide players who really help her. She will punish Manchester City if she's given too much space.

    Everton

Everton boss Willie Kirk: "We are breeding a group of winners and [today] can be a launchpad for success in the next five years.

"We spoke about the objectives for the season at the start of 2019-20 and they were to finish in the top half of the league and get to Wembley.

"We were adamant we would get there and remained focused and determined all season.

"We managed the top-half finish… this is the last step of that journey. I sowed that seed and the players nurtured it and let it grow."

In 2019, this final saw three goals scored by three different English players.

Today, eight England internationals start for Manchester City, while four English players are in Everton's starting XI.

After a summer which saw an unprecedented influx of overseas players joining the Women's Super League, that level of representation from English players in this showpiece game will please those involved with the Lionesses.

  13. Kelly on 'strange' finalpublished at 14:20 Greenwich Mean Time 1 November 2020

Everton v Manchester City (14:30 GMT)

Manchester City winger Chloe Kelly says it will be "strange" to face her former side Everton, having helped both teams reach Wembley.

Kelly played for Everton in the early rounds of the competition last season before leaving in the summer.

"I've got a lot of friends still in the squad," Kelly told BBC Sport. "I haven't spoken to them too much this week, they probably don't want to, but I've got great relations with the Everton girls and the manager and all the staff too - I've got huge respect for them.

"I appreciate what that club did for me but I'm at City now and I want to get the job done with this club.

"It is a strange situation as I remember sitting in a meeting at the start of pre-season last year and the manager said 'we want to get to Wembley' and I was part of that."

Manchester City captain Steph Houghton: "It never gets old! Games don’t come much bigger than FA Cup finals and we can’t wait.

"The last two times I’ve won the FA Cup, I’ve won it with City when we’ve had amazing crowds and the way we’ve played has made it even more special.

"It’s an unbelievable moment. Everyone talks about the Wembley steps and to have women’s football played at Wembley in the FA Cup final with all of its history is fantastic for the game.

"Watching on TV as a kid, you’ve seen so many people walk up to collect the trophy. It’s an unbelievable feeling to be part of that and follow in their footsteps."

Everton v Manchester City (14:30 GMT)

Both sides' large sets of international players all returned from October's break without any injuries.

Today's final comes five days after England were originally scheduled to face Germany away on Tuesday, but that friendly was called off after a member of the Lionesses' backroom staff tested positive for coronavirus.

"We were fortunate in so much as we got the England girls back, a day or two earlier than we anticipated due to the circumstances," said Manchester City boss Gareth Taylor.

"We had to think on our feet quickly in terms of arranging their timetable, but it was great to have them back, and what you want is everybody knocking on the door, in terms of being ready, fit and available to play in this game. Everybody wants to play in a Wembley final."

Manchester City manager Gareth Taylor: "It would mean a lot to win the trophy.

"In my coaching career, it would be one of the biggest things I’ve done so it’s really important to me.

"Hopefully, there will be other opportunities as well but I’m not playing down at all how important it would be to me.

"It would certainly reinforce the good work we’re putting in and show some reward for that."
