    Brighton v Burnley (17:30 GMT)

Brighton beat Burnley 2-1 at Turf Moor on the final day of last season, but that is their only win in six Premier League fixtures against the Clarets (D3, L2).

Burnley are unbeaten in the past four league meetings at the Amex Stadium, although three of those games ended in draws.

Brighton have won just one of their past 12 Premier League home matches (D5, L6), and are winless in seven at the Amex Stadium since beating Arsenal in June.

Graham Potter's side have allowed their opponents just 21 shots on target in this season's Premier League, a joint-low with Manchester City, who have played one game fewer.

The Clarets are without a victory in seven Premier League matches, their longest winless run since an eight-game streak two years ago. That sequence ended with a 1-0 victory against Brighton in December 2018.

Brighton manager Graham Potter on Neal Maupay: "He's made the mistake but he's a human being as well and he needs to learn from that. It's important we have him back tonight.

On Mat Ryan returning: "I felt he needed a breather because he's played a lot of football over the next few years.

On Danny Welbeck: "He's in good shape. He's only been with us a short time and has impressed. He has got stronger every day and is ready to start. We're looking forward to seeing him play."

Neal Maupay's surprise omission from the Brighton team beaten at Tottenham last Sunday was as a result of "an incident", boss Graham Potter said.

Potter initially said the French striker, the club's leading scorer this season with four goals, was left out for tactical reasons.

The manager suggested there might have been a dispute with the 24-year-old.

"He has trained with us this week and accepts it wasn't his finest hour," Potter said on Wednesday.

He added: "I think when I use the word 'tactical', it can be seen as 4-2-3-1, a system or a formation. Sometimes you have to make decisions that are right for the group.

"But sometimes mistakes are made and tempers are high, people get frustrated and emotional, which you want to a certain extent.

    Burnley

Burnley manager Sean Dyche: "You have to get the details right in the performance. Parts of the performances have been good. We have been close to changing those results. We need to get those results though and not wait for them. We need to make them happen.

"Brighton are a good outfit. They have been indifferent really. They are still trying to develop themselves but for us its about our performance."

  7. Burnley still after first victorypublished at 16:49 Greenwich Mean Time 6 November 2020

    Brighton v Burnley (17:30 GMT)

Burnley have made their worst start to a league season, claiming one point from six matches.

It leaves them down in 20th place, rock bottom of the table, without a win this season.

Brighton have won one and drawn two of the seven matches they have played, leaving them in 16th place.

Sean Dyche's side could jump out of the relegation and move within a point of Brighton with a game in hand if they claim victory tonight.

Brighton could jump ahead of Manchester United and move level on points with West Ham if they win.

    Southampton v Newcastle (20:00 GMT)

Southampton striker Danny Ings could be out for up to six weeks as he requires minor surgery on a knee injury.

Saints also have concerns over the fitness of Jan Bednarek, Ryan Bertrand and Ibrahima Diallo, who all suffered injuries during the win at Aston Villa.

Newcastle trio Matty Longstaff, Paul Dummett and Ciaran Clark have all returned to training and could play their first league games of the season.

Jonjo Shelvey, Martin Dubravka and Matt Ritchie remain sidelined.

  9. A first on top?published at 16:44 Greenwich Mean Time 6 November 2020

    Southampton v Newcastle (20:00 GMT)

We're used to seeing Liverpool at the top of the table but by playing on a Friday night, Southampton have been given a huge opportunity to take the throne.

Victory over Newcastle tonight would see Southampton jump from fifth to first on goal difference, level on points with Liverpool.

It would be the first time Southampton would ever finish a day top of the Premier League table.

They last led a top-flight table back in September 1988 under Chris Nicholl.
