I didn't think there would be loads of goals in this game as these two managers tactically get it right.

They are showing each other lots of respect.

It's been a good game though - Chelsea just need to play the ball a bit quicker and it will open up for them.

Chelsea are trying to utilitise Timo Werner's pace. He's caught offside with a ball forward and now just fails to keep a diagonal ball in play.

Jose Mourinho writes something down on his notepad. I don't think he'll have strong feelings about this start - not too good, not too bad.

Good pressing from Moussa Sissoko as the Spurs midfielder forces three Chelsea players into quickly releasing it. Ultimately wasted energy though as the keeper clears.

Dave Payn: Was that goal offside? Maybe the upper arm of the defender pointing kept Werner on. It was good enough to rule out a goal by Bamford. VAR didn't take an age to rule it out so were the infamous lines used?

Digital Teez: Maybe not the right game to start Rodon. Understandably full of nerves.

Spurs go close to taking the lead. Chelsea don't properly clear a corner and Serge Aurier's fierce drive from outside the box is palmed away by Edouard Mendy.

Corner to Spurs now. Steven Bergwijn - who has had a very lively start - almost finds Harry Kane with a cross but Thiago Silva heads behind.

Timo Werner has just gone a bit too early but it's a tremendous finish and he took that like he has been scoring week in, week out.

It was a 'proper' offside.

Timo Werner has the ball in the back of the net - but the flag goes up.

This time it's Chelsea who counter at pace. Mason Mount feeds Werner, who hits a glorious curling effort past Hugo Lloris off the inside of the post.

There is a VAR check which confirms no goal.

Spurs' first chance and of course Harry Kane is involved. They break at pace and Kane feeds it onto Steven Bergwijn in the box. The Dutchman shuffles the ball onto his right foot but then shoots over the bar.
