    Falkirk 0-4 Rangers

Another shot on target for Falkirk.

It's Blair Alston again, but there is no repeat of his goal against Rangers when Falkirk beat the Glasgow side on their last visit in 2016 as his shot is held by goalkeeper Jon McLaughlin.

  6. Double change for hostspublished at 61mins

    Falkirk 0-4 Rangers

Falkirk's management team have obviously realised the writing is on the wall and rest two of their key players ahead of return to league business.

Striker Conor Sammon and winger Callumn Morrison are replaced with Anton Dowds and Aidan Connolly, the midfielder who kind of lost his way after bursting on to the scene as a teenager with Dundee United.

Tavernier was a full 50-60 yards away from that play when it went out to the left-hand side and he just motored forward. It's a great ball by Barisic and a brilliant goal from Rangers

    James Tavernier

Just when Falkirk were posing a bit of a threat, Rangers kill them off with a fourth goal.

Borna Barisic picks out opposite full-back James Tavernier with a precision cross to the back post and the Englishman volleys it expertly into the far corner from 10 yards.

Conor Sammon just kicked a bottle of water away in frustration. Rangers were late back on to the pitch and I think Calvin Bassey's concentration was still in the dressing-room

    Falkirk 0-3 Rangers

So close to an ideal start to the second half.

Calvin Bassey is short with his back-pass to Jon McLaughlin and the goalkeeper's clearance is blocked by Conor Sammon.

However, McLaughlin is fortunate as it gets trapped under his arm and he is able to clear.

  14. KICK-OFFpublished at 46 mins

    Falkirk 0-3 Rangers

And away we go for the second half.

A long, surely impossible, way back for Falkirk if they are to repeat Ross County's giant killing from earlier.

    HT: Falkirk 0-3 Rangers

The 3-0 scoreline might not raise any eyebrows, but it shows where Rangers are at the moment considering they are able to make so many changes and ease aside a side full of top-flight experience.

Falkirk are not just League One leaders but that division's big spenders and have a team full of players who have recent experience in the Premiership.

Striker Conor Sammon is a Republic of Ireland international, Morgaro Gomis has played for Senegal, while fellow midfielder Blair Alston until recently was with Hamilton Academical. Indeed, Alston scored the last time Rangers were at Falkirk Stadium, when the home side won 3-2 back in 2016.

  17. HALF-TIME Falkirk 0-3 Rangerspublished at 17:47 Greenwich Mean Time 29 November 2020

Rangers are well on their way to filling that final place in the League Cup quarter-finals.

An early fine finish from Jermain Defoe set the tone, with centre-half Calvin Bassey, his first for Rangers, from close range and a trademark Borna Barisic free-kick have Steven Gerrard's side in a commanding position.

No way back surely for the League One leaders against their Premiership counterparts.

That's a terrific finish. I'm not sure about the goalkeeper's starting position. You don't give someone with the quality of Barisic that amount of the goal to aim at

    Borna Barisic

    Definitely game over now.

We all know how good Borna Barisic is from these free-kicks and, when goalkeeper Peter Morrison gives him a bit too much of a gap to aim for behind the defensive wall, the Croatia left-back finds the inviting target with aplomb.
