It's a glaring chance. Itten should score or at least hit the target. He looks out-of-sorts to me

  4. Postpublished at 31mins

    Falkirk 0-2 Rangers

A great chance for Rangers to extend their lead further.

Cedric Itten is through on goal, but the striker fires wastefully over from just inside the penalty box.

    Quote Message

That's a disappointing goal to lose from Falkirk. The header is straight at the goalkeeper and he's dropped the ball and Bassey's reacted quickest. He's reacted like a striker there

  6. goal

GOAL Falkirk 0-2 Rangerspublished at 30mins

    Calvin Bassey

Having made a good save to concede the corner, goalkeeper Peter Morrison is only able to parry Cedric Itten's downward header from the resulting set-piece and Calvin Bassey pounces to score.

That looks to be game over. Long way back for the third-tier side now.

I think Falkirk have reacted very well. Losing an early goal, you can lose your concentration and shape, but they will be quite happy right now

  11. 'Hagi and Barker need to do more'published at 17:19 Greenwich Mean Time 29 November 2020

    Falirk 0-1 Rangers

I'm looking at Brandon Barker and Ianis Hagi. In this game, they should stick out like a sore thumb. So far, they've been quiet. I want to see output from them today

  12. Postpublished at 15mins

    Falkirk 0-1 Rangers

So close to a second for Jermain Defoe.

Another long ball into the home penalty box, this time from Calvin Bassey, is headed clear by Mark Durnan and Defoe adjust his body before sending a first-time volley from just outside the penalty box and a couple of feet wide.

  13. Just like thatpublished at 17:13 Greenwich Mean Time 29 November 2020

    Falkirk 0-1 Rangers

Falkirk hadn't conceded a goal in three matches.

But, within six minutes, they are undone by a sublime Jermain Defoe finish.

That's the veteran former England striker's third goal in only his third start of the season. Still a deadly finisher.

It's a fantastic ball by Goldson, but Durnan should do better. As soon as Defoe gets that ball, there's only one place it's going. Falkirk will be disappointed

  15. goal

GOAL Falkirk 0-1 Rangerspublished at 6mins

    Jermain Defoe

So much for playing it tight.

A simple long ball into the penalty box from Connor Goldson and Mark Durnan misses the header and Jerman Defoe fires across the goalkeeper and in off the far post.

    Game over already?

Falkirk are very tight and compact. They know Rangers want to play through them. They don't want to play too narrow though as then Rangers will play around them

  19. Falkirk have to believe - McCrackenpublished at 17:00 Greenwich Mean Time 29 November 2020

    Falkirk v Rangers (17:00)

Falkirk co-manager David McCracken tells BBC Sportsound that his team are aware that they face a massive task if they want to get through to the quarter-finals of the League Cup.

"Rangers have made a few changes, but they still have that quality to bring in and we are looking forward to this," he says.

"Gary [Miller] is our captain and has massive experience. He has been playing at right-back with Mercer out and he's done extremely well. But we've got to just get on with it without him. We have done some preparation and we will cope with it.

"There has to be that belief there that they can get something out of the game. It's going to be tough, we're going to have to work really hard defensively, but we will create chances throughout the game and it's about taking them when we get them."
