    Manchester United 4-1 Leeds United

Scott McTominay really does get close to that hat-trick but he's prevented from a headed tap-in by Luke Ayling. Great clearance.

Leeds play their way out of trouble really nicely as I try and work out where Stuart Dallas is actually playing. He started off at right-back but he's more of a central midfielder at the moment.

It did look harsh! He was practically clotheslined.

Bruno Fernandes now has a shot deflected away. Can Leeds see this corner out?

    Yes.

Ryan Howard: Cooper almost elbows James in the face, knocks him off balance...and the referee, 30 yards away, somehow decides it's a dive and a yellow card. Bonkers

Andy Thomas: How is that a dive?! Not a pen/free kick, but if you're running that rapidly then any knock will put you off balance

Stuart Dallas hits the shot which could go anywhere, it deflects just away from the free Jamie Shackleton.

And now Leeds threaten again with a fine ball across the goalmouth. If they get the next one you just never know.

  7. YELLOW CARDpublished at 52 mins

    Manchester United 4-1 Leeds United

And now a booking for a dive!

This is just brilliant to watch. Everything is happening. Leeds attack, put in a dangerous cross, nearly score, leave nobody back and are caught on the break again.

Daniel James skins Liam Cooper, goes down looking for a penalty and is instead booked.

I'm not sure that was a dive or a penalty.

Wonderful save! He got both hands to it, then it's spun onto the post - a fantastic reaction save!

Leeds are a team of Championship players and good old fashioned triers. Maximum effort but zero top flight quality. Can't defend and can't finish. They will burn out in the new year and be lucky to stay up.

    Andrew.

  10. GREAT SAVE!published at 50 mins

    Manchester United 4-1 Leeds United

But that is nearly a goal back for Leeds! This is a mad old game!

Rodrigo whips in a superb cross from the right, it finds Raphinha at the back stick and he lashes in a volley which David de Gea brilliantly parries.

Up in the air, it lands on the base of the post and spins out.

  11. CLOSE!published at 46 mins

    Manchester United 4-1 Leeds United

Leeds made changes but haven't changed shape or approach as one pass cuts them open straight away!

Anthony Martial cuts inside Luke Ayling, he's clean through on goal 10 yards out but sidefoots wide.

Very good chance for a fifth.

Paul: Cant help but see some sort of irony in a "defender" scoring for Leeds. If only he and the rest of their defenders could do their actual jobs properly

Chris Lord: Tom has probably cursed it by saying will be bringing the brackets out, expecting a game of two halves now, either 0-0 second half or maybe Leeds grabbing one and different stance completely from United in second 45

Interested to see what happens when Man United actually turn up for the second half.

  17. 'I didn't like some players attitudes'published at 17:24 Greenwich Mean Time 20 December 2020

    Tottenham 0-2 Leicester

    Tottenham Hotspur

Jose Mourinho talking to Sky Sports: "We didn't start well - I could go into individuals but I won't, we didn't start well. In our best period of the game, we were totally in control and had a couple of good chances to score, and expecting to go in at 0-0 and we go 1-0 down. In the second half we scored an own goal when we had possession, that was difficult, the reaction was positive and Schmeichel made a couple of good saves which would have given us life for the last few moments of the game. It's a game we lost with a penalty and own goal but the result looks the opponent was in control, which is not true. It wasn't a game they deserved to win or a game we deserved to lose. It was not a good game, it was a poor game."

On the penalty: "It was a mistake from Serge. You've got to know about the area you are in. I know my players, I know their qualities and their little problems. Serge was phenomenal against Liverpool, probably our best player, and today he made this mistake. Did it cost us the three points? I think it's unfair to say that. If I was to go into individuals I could go into a different direction - some of their attitudes I did not like."

On the last week: "It is not a good week in terms of results - we could be here as the ones that broke Liverpool's record at Anfield and going into this game on a high. We started this game from the low of that disappointment and not getting what we deserved from that match, but Leicester also lost in their last match but came with a positive attitude. It's a game that we've lost with the penalty and the own goal.

"It's not one point from nine. It's many points in 14 matches and that for me is the situation."

  18. 'What a first 45!'published at 17:23 Greenwich Mean Time 20 December 2020

    Manchester United 4-1 Leeds United

    Robbie Savage
Ex-Wales midfielder on BBC Radio 5 Live

Brilliant first half performance from Man U, dynamic, runners in behind, great finishes. Leeds are a bit naïve and the midfield is being bypassed. But Cooper’s header gives some sort of hope – but what a first half!

  19. 'We were outstanding'published at 17:23 Greenwich Mean Time 20 December 2020

    Tottenham 0-2 Leicester

    Leicester City

Leicester City manager Brendan Rodgers talking to Sky Sports: "We did everything - I think if you see the learning we did from the performance here at the back end of last season, and how Tottenham have played this season. I thought we controlled the game in the first half and looked a really good side and deserved to be in front.

"In the second half I thought we controlled the game without having the ball, and with a little bit more finesse we could have won by more. I thought over the course of the game we were outstanding and it was a very good win for us.

"When you look at the stats of Tottenham they've scored so many goals in the first 15 mins so it's important you start well because of the quality they have. we started with good quality and composure and arrived up in the final third with quality.

"I think it was a clear penalty, but you just never know. Modern players are clever - they get their bodies across and then from there it's a penalty.

"We have to start winning at home. The group is learning all the time and that's why we're nowhere near the finished product - if you look at the experience in their side to us we've still got a lot of learning to do. We miss the fans at home, like every side, but we and I need to look at more solutions to break sides down who defend deeper. I think we looked like a mature side today which is really pleasing."

  20. 'I didn’t think either team played very, very well'published at 17:21 Greenwich Mean Time 20 December 2020

    Tottenham 0-2 Leicester

    Tottenham Hotspur

Tottenham manager Jose Mourinho talking to BBC Sport: "It’s frustrating but I think it’s a strange game to describe. It’s a game that we lose with the penalty and the own goal. It’s a game where your goalkeeper doesn’t make a single save, but it’s a game that we didn’t play very well. We didn’t start well, but then the period we were playing the best was when we conceded the goal and then the own goal. The team tried and created a few moments. I didn’t think either team played very, very well.

"We had the best chances in the first half, they had two or three good chances and they scored in the penalty which is not even a dangerous situation - the opponent is running away from our goal. The teams are similar levels and it can be a mistake that makes the difference.

"Serge [Aurier] doesn’t need to make the challenge, of course he doesn’t need to. But I’m not going to crucify the player.

"We deserved to win the game at Liverpool and that would have made it in amazing week because nobody has done that for a long time - the team was phenomenal at Liverpool. Now if you look at the table everybody is there."
