  2. 'We didn't do enough where it matters'published at 22:32 Greenwich Mean Time 21 December 2020

    FT: Chelsea 3-0 West Ham

    West Ham United

West Ham manager David Moyes to BBC Sport: "It was a harsh scoreline but we were not good enough in our box, having to defend a couple of times, we weren't good enough in their box when we had the opportunities.

"We have not conceded a goal from a set-piece before tonight, I was disappointed the way we did concede it because we knew their strengths.

"If you are a football guy you would spot it is zonal - part zonal, part man-marking - quite normal. It's the first goal we have conceded from a corner this season so whatever we are doing we are not doing bad.

"Any small decisions did not go for us, the flow always went in Chelsea's favour tonight.

"The players played really well, this was our biggest test so far this season, for the majority of it we played very well but didn't do enough where it matters, the boxes."

  3. 'We just fell short'published at 22:30 Greenwich Mean Time 21 December 2020

    FT: Chelsea 3-0 West Ham

    West Ham United

West Ham boss David Moyes, speaking to Sky Sports: "I think we had chances as well, we had a lot of the ball. This was a real test for us tonight, we had a lot of the ball but we just didn't do enough in the box.

"They have some power, we knew about it and tried to prepare correctly for it. We had one or two shots blocked but we never worked the goalkeeper enough tonight.

"You are playing against a top team. We found it very difficult to get any advantage tonight.

"We've been good and we were good at times tonight. I thought we stood up and played against Chelsea and tried to give them a game, ultimately we fell short of getting a result."

I dread to even begin to think about the price tag any suitors would be quoted for Declan Rice.

  6. 'I couldn't play like Thiago at 36'published at 22:26 Greenwich Mean Time 21 December 2020

    Chelsea 3-0 West Ham

    Chelsea

Chelsea boss Frank Lampard to Sky Sports: "The game was hard and we started really well but for a period in the second half we did not get much of the ball. You are delighted when you get the second and third goals, West Ham can hurt you.

"The season is looking different to every other season, for whatever reason. It is hard for a club with the expectation and squad we have. You get a few challenges when you lose a couple of games and I have to be the one to drive it, there was a bit of tension going into the game. We showed graft without being beautiful it was a good result.

"Olivier Giroud has been playing well and scoring goals, you have to look at the opposition and they have different attributes. We did not know whether they would play a back three or four and with Tammy Abraham's natural ability to move in behind it would have suited us better today. We judged it on the oppostion and Tammy came up trumps, Oli produces whenever he plays.

"I remember playing in the Premier League at 36, I could not play week in week out and was a bit tentative. Thiago Silva played in France for a long time and has exceeded expectations slightly. I can see the quality, the preparation, the desire to win headers and he is very studious about the game. He has been a great addition on and off the pitch.

"Keeping a cool head in difficult moments is crucial if we want to do anything. It feels we have to grow a bit of character in games.

"I want more, I am still fresh off the two defeats. Anybody can beat you in the Premier League and we have to have the desire to want more. The higher we can aim, the more level headed we can stay after wins.

"Christmas Day is off for pretty much everyone. Arsenal is a tough game, people will look at the position they are in but it will be difficult."

  7. 'Timo will go on a run'published at 22:22 Greenwich Mean Time 21 December 2020

Chelsea manager Frank Lampard to BBC Sport: "It was nice to see that at the end because we had a period at 1-0 where it was tough, we dealt with that well. Once we got the second goal, Kovacic came on and got us up the pitch and we could have had more goals in the end.

"That's the period Timo (Werner) is in, it's unfortunate but he's getting in the positions - when one (goal) goes in it will be a run for him. Tammy (Abraham) and Oli (Giroud) both bring different things, Tammy did his thing today and that's what we needed.

"West Ham are a good team on good form, so many threats, I thought today would be a tough match and it proved to be so, even in the not beautiful moments we defended superbly - Thiago Silva did brilliantly with that.

"We dropped off slightly and it was important tonight we came back, there were loads of things for the team to show their character - we want more.

"Christmas has been changed for everybody this year, for the lads we just have to prepare for Arsenal, it's a busy time of year for us."

Rosco: Gritty performance. Seen the win out like Frank was asking after Wolves game. Thiago Silva & Kante excellent. Tammy back in the goals. Not sure if Mendy had a shot to save. Much needed win & 3 points.

  13. 'It's early to be looking at the table'published at 22:02 Greenwich Mean Time 21 December 2020

    Chelsea

More from Tammy Abraham, speaking to BBC Sport: "We needed a performance, I need to be in the right places at the right times, we had to stay patient but luckily we got the three points.

"I need to help the team with either goals or assists, or just being a threat. It's about keep getting goals, keep being in the right place.

"It's still early doors to be looking at the table, we have to just keep picking up three points."

    FT: Chelsea 3-0 West Ham

    Chelsea

Chelsea striker Tammy Abraham speaking to Sky Sports: "The boys said we needed a performance and that's what we did today. As a striker, scoring goals gives you confidence, my team-mates created a lot of chances and we defended well as a team."

On his two goals: "Something you do in the park, get in the right areas and be ready when the ball lands.

"West Ham are a great side, they gave been great this year and we had to be patient for the second and third goals."

  20. 'Chelsea deserved it'published at 21:56 Greenwich Mean Time 21 December 2020

    FT: Chelsea 3-0 West Ham

    Chris Sutton
Former Premier League striker on BBC Radio 5 Live

Three goals and more importantly for Frank Lampard, three points.

The score flattered Chelsea. It was really good from Tammy Abraham, his two goals were very good.

From West Ham's point of view, they just didn't create enough.

    Overall Chelsea deserved it.
