So, Frank Lampard has never beaten West Ham, and David Moyes has never managed a winning team at Stamford Bridge. That’ll be a draw, then.

I think Ben Chilwell is going to be ok. He's back out there, just a bit whiter around the gills than he was. Seb Haller now goes down. Bitty start.

Strange one that, Jarrod Bowen cleared the ball and on his follow through he collided with Ben Chilwell, who knew nothing about it, and it has rocked his right foot. It's his birthday as well.

It was not far off the ever-pleasing sound of connecting with a volley into your neighbour's garage door.

Yeah, we could go and play in the park. But your driveway and garage are just better mate.

Ben Chilwell is down, rolled his ankle.

We're going to find out so much about this Chelsea side tonight.

Frank Lampard said in his programme notes that it's time for his team to prove themselves. They're taken some knocks, let's see if they can bounce back.

West Ham will feel they can get a result here.

Such a pleasant sound as Jorginho hits a belting shot from about 25 yards and it absolutely smacks into the back of the stand.

    TTHWWAACKKKKK.

Jorginho is definitely sitting deepest in a midfield three for those of you who care about such things.

Timo Werner is starting on the left wing for the hosts.

Surely it's a 4-2-3-1 with Kante and Jorginho in pivot, not a 4-3-3?

West Ham have got two keepers on the bench by the way - it didn't do Liverpool any harm the other day.

Here we go then, the Chelsea players line up in the tunnel and head out into the chilly (I presume) night sky.

Win here and the home side would go above Tottenham and into fifth.

West Ham manager David Moyes has never won a Premier League match at Stamford Bridge (P15 D7 L8) – the only instance in Premier League history of a manager taking charge of more games at a stadium without winning is Moyes himself at Anfield (16 games).

Mason Mount is making his 50th Premier League appearance for Chelsea tonight, up against his mate Declan Rice of course. Quite the double act.

  15. 'It is really difficult for referees now'published at 19:50 Greenwich Mean Time 21 December 2020

    FT: Burnley 2-1 Wolves

    Burnley

Burnley boss Sean Dyche, speaking to Sky Sports: "We defended well and created some really good chances. If I were to be hyper-critical we could have been more clinical and more comfortable.

"I thought Barnesy (Ashley Barnes) was getting more fit and more sharp and he did well tonight, it was a poacher's goal.

"There is some logic to what we do. Stats and facts during the time we have been here suggest it is effective. It is very difficult in the Premier League to dominate and get wins. We have a small squad, I felt when the squad got fitter and injury free it would start to come together. The proof is in the performances and the performances have got stronger and we've got results.

"Football now, every touch is a foul and yet their lad stamps on ours and there is no foul. How that is not a sending off I don't know.

"I've no problems with the referees, it is really difficult now. The three most difficult jobs are the two managers and the referee. I don't think any game is easy for referees at the moment. We all want the decisions of course, it is one of those things.

"There is confidence, I don't think we have been massively under confident. Football doesn't owe you anything so we have to keep working, keep being effective and keep working well but now we are getting the rub of the green."

  19. 'We deserved more in the second half'published at 19:46 Greenwich Mean Time 21 December 2020

    FT: Burnley 2-1 Wolves

    Wolves

Wolves forward Fabio Silva: "I feel confident to shoot the penalty. The team support me and the coach is very happy I score a goal. The most important thing is to help the team with the work and the goals come naturally.

"When the coach made the substitution it was for more energy I think. The team deserved more in the second half.

"When you score at 2-1 the team believes. The team did everything possible for the draw."
