Playing style of Arsenal IS the problem. They still want to entertain and play pretty football. Unfortunately they haven't got the coach to change that. Last 3 managers all the same

    Alan, Horsham

Arsenal manage a paltry one shot in an entire half, and not even on target. This is why they are where they are; they create nothing game after game. It's worth noting that against Chelsea their only goal from open play was a freak cross/shot.

    John, Bournemouth

  2. CLOSE!published at 19:08 Greenwich Mean Time 29 December 2020

    Brighton 0-0 Arsenal

    Much brighter from Arsenal, this.

Gabriel Martinelli is picked out in space just outside the box. He shifts it onto his right foot and curls it towards the top corner but it's just too high.

    Burnley 1-0 Sheff Utd

Sheffield United are straight on the attack at the start of this half but openings in the Burnley defensive line are scarce as the Blades switch play from one side of the pitch to the other to try and find one.

  4. GREAT SAVE!published at 19:06 Greenwich Mean Time 29 December 2020

    Brighton 0-0 Arsenal

    Huge save!

Arsenal catch Brighton on the break. It's put on a plate for Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang by Bukayo Saka on the left but keeper Robert Sanchez pulls off a terrific save from close range to block the Arsenal captain's first-time flick.

Stuart Dallas plays a loose pass which falls for Grady Diangana but he has nobody up there in support with him.

  8. CLOSE!published at 19:02 Greenwich Mean Time 29 December 2020

    Brighton 0-0 Arsenal

Great start from Brighton! Alireza Jahanbakhsh feeds it through to Alexis Mac Allister. He can't beat Hector Bellerin for pace but they win a corner.

From the set piece, there's a scramble in the box. Lewis Dunk tries to poke it in but ends up going to ground. It's checked over by VAR but nothing in it. That could have been anything!

Chipperhull: How on earth were Leeds and WBA in the same division last year - and only a few points apart. The gap is now a chasm...

Ramesh Subramaniam: As an Arsenal fan, it is more painful to see the playing style than the actual result. Hope it changes in second half.

  13. 'What do West Brom do now?'published at 18:57 Greenwich Mean Time 29 December 2020

    HT: West Brom 0-4 Leeds

    Robert Earnshaw
Former Wales striker on BBC Radio 5 Live

I've been in those positions where you have been three and four goals down at half time and it's a case of 'what do you do now?'

There needs to be more effort, be smarter in your decisions, be in the right positions.

You have to do a little bit better. If you are 4-0 down, it's because of the mistakes you are doing. That's what it comes down to. Don't make the mistakes.

You can replace players but it comes down to your ability to do more. Be better in everything that you do.

  14. Early team newspublished at 18:55 Greenwich Mean Time 29 December 2020

Man Utd v Wolves (20:00 GMT)

We'll get the team news from Old Trafford very shortly. Here's what we knew earlier this week...

Manchester United were to assess the fitness of Marcus Rashford, who sustained a shoulder injury in the draw at Leicester City on Boxing Day.

Daniel James picked up a knock at the King Power Stadium, while Aaron Wan-Bissaka and Victor Lindelof remain out.

Wolves have no new injury concerns for the trip to Old Trafford, with some rotation expected.

Raul Jimenez, Willy Boly, Leander Dendoncker and Jonny are still unavailable.

Sheffield United do look threatening and are playing well but they do desperately need to get that goal.

Once they get that goal, then that confidence can start to build within them in the second half.

    Maybe.

Here's how the table looks at half time down at the bottom.

Arsenal have moved above Newcastle on goal difference while Burnley will leapfrog Brighton if it remains like this.

    Sheffield United are in trouble.

Half time at the Amex Stadium, 0-0 and...nothing has happened.

Got the soup flask at the ready.

  19. HALF-TIMEpublished at 18:48 Greenwich Mean Time 29 December 2020

    West Brom 0-4 Leeds

West Brom get to half time without conceding another. Ezgjan Alioski probably needs a new nose at the break, while Sam Allardyce might be looking for a new job.

  20. HALF-TIMEpublished at 18:47 Greenwich Mean Time 29 December 2020

    Burnley 1-0 Sheff Utd

Ben Mee's goal is the difference at half time.
