  1. 'A tight game'published at 20:14 Greenwich Mean Time 29 December 2020

    Burnley 1-0 Sheff Utd

    Burnley

Burnley boss Sean Dyche: "Working hard without the ball has seen us through a tough game. We were playing against a Sheffield United side who I think are a good side, talk about a team that is fighting, they are fighting and put us under pressure in the second half.

"We thought it would be a tight game because you look at their scorelines they are tight. There were not many chances overall but it was the quality of chances, that is important for us. We didn't take them but we scored from the set piece and the way we saw the game out I thought we were outstanding.

"We believe in the set piece work we do here. We simplify it for the players and put the onus on them to attack the ball.

"Charlie Taylor is a hamstring injury. We will wait and see but we are stretched again. Josh Benson came on wide and did a real shift for the team. We are stretched and we can only hope these injuries stop coming and we can get everyone fit.

"If the right players at the right price come along, that has always been the model of the club. January is tough anyway."

  2. 'We played a serious game throughout'published at 20:13 Greenwich Mean Time 29 December 2020

FT: West Brom 0-5 Leeds United

    Leeds United

Leeds United head coach Marcelo Bielsa, speaking to Amazon Prime: "It was a game where we defended well and we were efficient up front. From eight chances we scored five and that helped the result.

"We played a serious game throughout and we managed the ball well, not committing any errors for them to attack us, apart from a few cases in the second half.

"We have to keep doing the same and keep doing it over a longer period of time. We have had a lot of highs and lows, only two games ago we had an important defeat and our idea is to play in a consistent manner."

    Man Utd 0-0 Wolves

Paul Pogba is hounded upon by Vitinha and Adama Traore. He loses out and Vitinha sees space in front of him and drills it low towards goal. Straight at David de Gea again.

  4. Postpublished at 9 mins

    Man Utd 0-0 Wolves

Adama Traore copies Marcus Rashford at the other end, showing his own silky skills to glide towards the box.

He lays it off to Pedro Neto, who ignores Rayan Ait-Nouri on his left and tries to curl it in but it's way too easy for David de Gea.

Marcus Rashford then has a go from long range as United break. Way wide.

  5. Postpublished at 8 mins

    Man Utd 0-0 Wolves

Silky! Marcus Rashford drifts past one play with a really nice stepover, dances past another and tees up Mason Greenwood on the edge of the box.

His touch lets him down and he can't recover to poke it through to Rashford, who had carried on his run in behind.

  6. 'Perfect storm last year, complete opposite this year'published at 20:07 Greenwich Mean Time 29 December 2020

    FT: Burnley 1-0 Sheff Utd

    Sheffield United

Sheffield United boss Chris Wilder: "Tight game as always when you come here. Experienced side, I think we were a little bit naive at times in certain aspects of the game. Plenty of effort and plenty of the ball. They got their noses in front and did what they needed to do to see the game out. A big three points for them and another defeat for us.

"Late on they just sat in and worked their socks off which they do as a team and we struggled to find that space and that pass that would get us back in the game.

"I am saying the same thing again. It was a good start by them but we got a foothold in the game and started to dictate and had a couple of opportunities. Yet again not showing that quality that decides the game.

"The opposition will say they have done enough which is right, they did enough to get ahead and see the game out.

"It has always been a fighting test right the way through. We had a perfect storm last year, it is the complete opposite this year. It has always been an incredible fight all the way through, it was a fight to get out of the Championship. The year we had last year was a perfect storm for us, we took big moments and found that bit of quality. This time we don't find that bit of quality and it marries up with the results. It is a big arm wrestle and a big struggle for us."

Man Utd have started strongly. Bruno Fernandes and Marcus Rashford almost pull off a neat one-two in the box but it's cut out at the last minute.

  9. 'All the goals gave me happiness'published at 20:05 Greenwich Mean Time 29 December 2020

    FT: West Brom 0-5 Leeds

    Leeds United

Leeds manager Marcelo Bielsa, speaking to MOTD: "The most important thing was we were very efficient. Normally it's difficult for us, not many chances to score five goals and in this game, we managed to do that. Even if one of them was an own goal.

"We hadn't been so efficient the margin of the result wouldn't have been this.

"We were dominating and we were trying to make more chances. All of the goals gave me happiness.

"We dominated the game and we made few errors, so they couldn't capitalise on anything. We attacked constantly and were efficient - all those details make a positive performance.

"It's important for us not to concede goals because we've conceded way too many goals. And to avoid conceding a goal to create security within the team."

Romain Saiss is there again to hook Alex Telles' cross out of play as it came flying in dangerously towards Edinson Cavani.

    FT: Burnley 1-0 Sheffield Utd

    Burnley

Burnley captain Ben Mee: "They kept going and we knew that from the start. We had to be on it, we had a few chances and it was nice to get a goal.

"It was nice to be on the scoresheet and we dug in at the end and the strikers defended really well from the front.

"We are getting back to where we want to be. We are tough to beat and that will get us up the table. We are moving in the right direction."

Samuel Clarke: Saints really missed Ralph Hasenhuttl today, the assistant manager standing in projected nervousness into the team and the players seemed scared to attack at times.

West Brom won't be the last team Leeds beat by five this season. West Brom might not score five goals in the whole rest of the season.
