Terry Butcher gets across to take the ball off Diego Maradona's toes but Argentina win a corner. It's the captain to take, lofting it to the edge of the area for Julio Olarticoechea to have a dig.

England crowd it out and rush forward on a counter attack themselves with Glenn Hoddle and then Gary Lineker, but Argentina recover well.

The conversation over coffee this morning was about the poor quality of refereeing in the tournament and most journalists around the world agree with that. They use the inexperienced referees or those from emerging countries in the vital games.

Diego Maradona looks to get an early touch but Terry Butcher thuds into him, as does Trevor Steven a few moments later. A case of 'let him know you're there'.

No chance of anyone taking it steady in the midday Mexico heat, England fly forward and win a throw-in, Terry Butcher flicks it on but there was a push in the box.
