    Argentina 0-0 England

An Argentine drummer in the crowd, he's yet to get going.

As really is Diego Maradona, who drops into his own half to pick up the ball before Peter Reid snaps at his heels and gives away a free-kick.

Jorge Valdano saunters forward, brings in Maradona and it's another cheeky backheel from the captain to take two defenders out of the game on the touchline.

Peter Shilton rushes out to collect the following cross.

So far - and I hope I'm not tempting fate - England have been able to crowd Diego Maradona out...

    Argentina 0-0 England

Terry Butcher gets across to take the ball off Diego Maradona's toes but Argentina win a corner. It's the captain to take, lofting it to the edge of the area for Julio Olarticoechea to have a dig.

England crowd it out and rush forward on a counter attack themselves with Glenn Hoddle and then Gary Lineker, but Argentina recover well.

    Argentina 0-0 England

With the drop of a shoulder, Maradona has white shirts scattered across the turf. It comes to nothing, but there's an anxious sense of urgency among the England defence whenever the little man picks up the ball.

    Argentina 0-0 England

Kenny Sansom is forced into a diving header to turn a dangerous cross away from the England six-yard box. Argentina just starting to string a few attacks together.

But what an opportunity for England at the other end!

Peter Beardsley steals the ball away from Argentina keeper Nery Pumpido and is forced towards the corner flag, but somehow swivels and gets a strike on goal.

It just drops into the side-netting. Unlucky.

Steve Ball: Watching the #bbcfootball, external replay of the 86 Quarter final, member of England bench, possibly physio Fred Street is wearing a tracksuit top!! Midday Mexico sunshine!

Jez Orbell: What is it about the kits? Three Lions in home shirts and away shorts and socks and Argentina in blue. Why no iconic red '66 v blue and white stripes '78?

LivGoss: 3 minutes into the game, and there should have been 4 yellow cards by now!

That's the first we've seen of the little man.

And, great player that he is, it would be best if we don't see much more of him...

  13. YELLOW CARDpublished at 9 mins

    Argentina 0-0 England

    Brilliant from Diego Maradona!

That's the first time he's been able to turn and run at the England defence, and it causes all sorts of problems. Terry Fenwick takes matters into his own hands and slices down the Napoli man.

Yellow card, and an early warning for England.

England midfielder Peter Reid is used to dishing out those sort of tackles, he's on the end of one himself in the corner as Jose Luis Brown comes thundering across and slides in.

He clutches his ankle, but should be OK.

    Jimmy Hill
    BBC Sport pundit

The conversation over coffee this morning was about the poor quality of refereeing in the tournament and most journalists around the world agree with that. They use the inexperienced referees or those from emerging countries in the vital games.
