  1. 'Happy to see the team doing well'published at 15:06 Greenwich Mean Time 13 December 2020

    Southampton 3-0 Sheffield United

    Southampton

Southampton midfielder Nathan Redmond, speaking to BBC Sport: "It has been a tough start personally and when you are on the bench you want to make an impact and help your team score. I picked up a few niggles and players have come in and done well. You can't rest on feeling sorry for yourself. You need to be part of the team, even if that is just 10 or 15 minutes at the end of games.

I haven't seen the goal back. I think it came off my toe. But I will take it to get off the mark.

"You always want to do well but I would rather be seeing the team in the top half of the table. I just have to keep plugging away and hope it merits some starts. Rotations will come soon as there are a lot of games. But I am delighted for the clubs and the boys.

"We are sure of ourselves and what we can do. We just have to stay focused and keep plugging away."

  2. 'We're in trouble'published at 15:04 Greenwich Mean Time 13 December 2020

    Southampton 3-0 Sheffield United

    Sheffield United

Sheffield United manager Chris Wilder, speaking to BBC Sport: “We were beaten by the better side, a side on top of their game and full of confidence. They’re obviously a huge example of a team in a strong position compared to where they were last season.

“We knew their strengths, their press and forward runs. There weren’t many clear-cut opportunities but they were the better side. It was difficult for us to get any sort of rhythm in the game. As a player you hope to get to half-time at 1-0, that’s a decent platform to take the game to them in the second half.

“You have to keep working hard to gain that luck and that fortune. We still will. There’s plenty of examples of teams who have gone on to pick up points after a losing streak, but the longer it goes on the more it’s going to impact the team.

“I keep saying it has to come soon. We’re in trouble now, there won’t be a light at the end of the tunnel if we don’t change the situation in front of us.”

  3. 'We look sorry for ourselves'published at 15:02 Greenwich Mean Time 13 December 2020

    Southampton 3-0 Sheffield United

    Sheffield United

Sheffield United defender Enda Stevens: “We’re going through a sticky patch and struggling to get out of it. We got a foothold in the game after half-time, setting the tone and being on the front foot. The second goal takes a deflection and that kind of knocked the stuffing out of us.

“We just look a bit sorry for ourselves at the minute. Disappointments are going to happen. It just looks like we’re getting kicked at the minute. We just need to get playing like us, like last season. Hopefully things will change.

“We’re just staying focused on the football now. We’ve got to make things happen and not rely on luck. We’ve got to earn every point we can. Hopefully we can do that.”

    The half-time whistle goes.

Spurs lead with Harry Kane and Son Heung-min involved. Where have we heard that one before?

    Mark Schwarzer
Former Fulham keeper on BBC Radio 5 Live

Wilfried Zaha hasn't seen a lot of the ball but when he is on the ball he does cause the opposition problems. Spurs become that bit more attentive when he's on the ball because they know he can make something from nothing.

  7. INJURY TIMEpublished at 45 mins

    Crystal Palace 0-1 Spurs

Spurs are just trying to take the sting out of this game and see it to half-time now.

Urban Bourbon: Hoping Palace spoil Spurs' title charge in the same way they ruined Liverpool's! (From an ever so slightly nervous Liverpool fan.)

Sulaimon Adelekan: At the moment Spurs are enjoying the Kane/Son combo, hopefully they don’t burn out before the crunch time.

Leave Guaita alone! He's made one mistake amidst several world class ones. I'm sure all the armchair aficionados complaining about him would do well with a Harry Kane shot.

  9. HITS THE WOODWORKpublished at 43 mins

    Crystal Palace 0-1 Spurs

Palace's best chance. Eberechi Eze cuts onto his right foot and curls an effort from the edge of the box. Hugo Lloris dives but can't reach it and it clips the outside of the post.

Palace are ending this half really well, it must be said. They're working the ball slickly around midfield but can't find a way through.

A good Palace break comes to an end when Jeffrey Schlupp stepped over the ball but nobody was behind him.

Patrick van Aanholt goes low with the free-kick but Spurs had a player kneeling behind the wall and it hit a boot of one of the jumpers anyway.

Moussa Sissoko goes into the book, deservedly so. Jeffrey Schlupp gets the ball on the right and runs at Spurs' defence before getting chopped down on the edge of the box.

Good play from Vicente Guaita this time. Harry Kane feeds Steven Bergwijn and Guiata is off his line to stop him. The loose ball lands to Tanguy Ndombele, whose shot is saved by the Spaniard.

Dennis Ethan: Harry Kane is now just shooting anyhow after that howler from Guaita.

Norm Gundersson: Mourinho has made Spurs streetwise. Even as a Hammer, I can see they & Liverpool are title favourites.

Paul Carney: The crowd at Palace have made such a difference. The game is being played at a much better tempo than in an empty stadium.
