  1. ouch!

    Postpublished at 39 mins

    Leicester 0-1 Everton

And this is bad news for Allan and for Everton and the fixture list may be to blame once again.

Allan pulls up chasing back and he's done his hamstring. Cengiz Under had a shot in that Leicester attack which was straight at Robin Olsen.

    Arsenal 0-1 Southampton

    Steve Sidwell
Former Chelsea midfielder on BBC Radio 5 Live

Arsenal have played well but it is fine lines tonight. Southampton have had one clear cut chance and taken it. Arsenal have lacked a bit of quality in that final third - whether that be a cross or a conviction in shots. That seems to be the story of their season.

  3. GREAT SAVE!published at 18:39 Greenwich Mean Time 16 December 2020

    Arsenal 0-1 Southampton

Arsenal need inspiration from somewhere as they search for the equaliser.

Bukayo Saka does well to zip a low cross into the box which Jan Bednarek stretches his leg out to, but goalkeeper Alex McCarthy reacts sharply to keep the ball out at the near post.

    Leicester 0-1 Everton

And that should really be 2-0! Dominic Calvert-Lewin is not attended to closely enough from another dangerous Gylfi Sigurdsson set-piece and he can only head straight at Kasper Schmeichel. Big chance!

  5. PENALTY APPEALpublished at 18:37 Greenwich Mean Time 16 December 2020

    Arsenal 0-1 Southampton

Arsenal want a penalty as Dani Ceballos goes down in the box.

    Referee Paul Tierney says no.

    VAR says no.

Richard Sharp: Walcott owes Arsenal nothing. He would’ve stayed but was sold. Fair play to him for celebrating. No grudges from this Gooner. Bigger stuff to worry about in the grand scheme of things.

Arsenal need players with pace, composure and determination. Someone like Theo Walcott...

  7. goal

GOAL - Leeds 1-1 Newcastlepublished at 35 mins

    Patrick Bamford

All square and Leeds deserve this.

Raphinha is involved again, clipping in a cross which Rodrigo meets but loops onto the crossbar.

Newcastle goalkeeper Karl Darlow is out of the game as he dived full stretch for the effort and the ball bounces perfectly onto the head of Patrick Bamford to nod into an open net from a couple of yards out.

    Leeds 0-1 Newcastle

Leeds have reacted well to falling behind.

Raphinha's shot from inside the area is straight at Karl Darlow.

Same old Leeds. attaaaaack! all the possession, and 1-0 down.

Another game without Reiss Nelson, and another game where we look limp. He's our best young talent after Bukayo, but he's not getting the recognition. Arteta out?

"Mature, authoritative, good rhythm and crisp passing," is how Jonathan Pearce has described Southampton's performance so far.

    Leicester 0-1 Everton

For all that ball Leicester give the ball away softly and nearly have to pay the price. Everton spring with pace, Alex Iwobi is sent away down the right and cuts the ball back.

Everton have two men there but neither DCL nor Gylfi Sigurdsson manage to get a proper connection on the ball and it rather scuffs into the grasp of Kasper Schmeichel. A let-off.

    Steve Sidwell
Former Chelsea midfielder on BBC Radio 5 Live

Arsenal need to get a foothold in the game. They need to get a spell on the ball, knock it around, get their confidence up. It looks like the only way they are going to score at the moment is a bit of individual brilliance.

  13. Postpublished at 30 mins

    Leicester 0-1 Everton

Leicester seeing a lot of the ball but for all their pace in attack their build-up play is too slow. Everton's shape not helping, not that it's meant to of course. Carlo Ancelotti will be pleased with how this has gone so far.

Francis Edwards: Saka’s defensive positioning there was really poor. Saka, Elneny, Maitland Niles, Nketiah. These are championship players at best. Might be good one day but it’s no wonder they’re so bad going forward.

Keith Mc: Arsenal missed out on Big Sam.

Naim Rahman: Listen there's nothing embarrassing about losing to the league leaders...

  18. goal

GOAL - Leeds 0-1 Newcastlepublished at 26 mins

    Jeff Hendrick

Leeds put the pressure on but concede the opener.

It is a well-worked goal by the visitors, little Ryan Fraser darting past his man and putting a cross into the box which Callum Wilson flicks on and Jeff Hendrick is on hand at the far post to divert a first-time finish into the net.

All three summer signings combining there.

I'm still recovering from seeing Theo Walcott running off to celebrate in the corner against his old club.

Imagine there were fans in, might have heard some noise.

Everton are fifth in the as-it-stands table now, a point and place below Leicester. Six points cover the top half.
