    Brentford 0-0 Bournemouth

    Wow!

What a start to this game and Bournemouth are inches away from taking the lead inside the first 45 seconds!

Dominic Solanke is played through by Jefferson Lerma behind the Bees back four and he slips the ball goalwards past David Raya.

But a last-ditch sliding stop from Pontus Jansson hooks it right off the goal line.

    Brentford 0-0 Bournemouth

We've got an Australian referee in charge for this one this evening.

Jarred Gillett's been no stranger to EFL fixtures since his debut in April 2019 and he blows his whistle to get the action under way at the Brentford Community Stadium.

    Brentford v Bournemouth (17:30 GMT)

Both sides come into this fixture in some fairly impressive form.

Brentford are unbeaten in 14 Championship matches and also made it through to the EFL Cup semi-finals before Christmas.

Bournemouth have named an unchanged starting XI in their past four matches and have not lost on the road in their past five fixtures since losing at Hillsborough back in early November.

Ivan Toney may well have netted 16 goals in 22 Championship appearances for Brentford but he will have to try and get past a Bournemouth defence which has not been breached in their past five matches.

So what's stood out for you in this most unusual of years in the Championship?

Leeds' runaway promotion under Marcelo Bielsa? Joe Bryan's cheeky play-off final-winning free-kick for Fulham? Maybe Barnsley's last-gasp escape from relegation?

Or is it perhaps goals galore from the likes of Ivan Toney?

Also, what about the emergence of some exciting young talent across the division like Reading's Michael Olise or Swansea's Yan Dhanda who we should both see in action later?

Sadly rights restrictions prevent us from being able to stream commentaries of tonight's two Championship fixtures on the BBC Sport website and app.

But, BBC local radio stations have both games covered in their respective transmission areas.

BBC Radio Solent have a former Bournemouth (and Carlisle in case you'd forgotten!) goalkeeping legend as summariser this evening.

So fourth plays third and sixth faces second this evening then after Tuesday evening's fixtures.

A win for Bournemouth tonight would see them move away of Brentford and still with a game in hand on the Bees as well.

That would also put them second before Swansea face Reading at the Liberty Stadium later.

The Swans though know they can take advantage of Norwich's draw on Tuesday and move to within two points of the Canaries with a win.

Reading could climb two places with a win of their own.

Nine Championship fixtures on Tuesday produced 25 goals and some surprising results at both ends of the table.

Down the bottom, there were crucial wins for Wycombe, managerless Sheffield Wednesday and Derby County, who in turn piled the pressure on Birmingham City and their boss Aitor Karanka.

At the top, leaders Norwich had to settle for a 1-1 draw against QPR.

There's more on all those games plus the latest news from around the division on our Championship page.

There's just the one change made by Brentford boss Thomas Frank from their 3-2 victory at Cardiff City on Boxing Day.

Josh Dasilva replaces Emiliano Marcondes in midfield.

Can Ivan Toney add to his 16 goals so far this Championship campaign up top?

Bournemouth manager Jason Tindall names an unchanged starting line-up from their goalless draw against Luton Town on 19 December.

The Cherries were without a match on Boxing Day after their home fixture against Millwall was postponed.

Dominic Solanke leads the attack for the visitors with Joshua King among the substitutes.

Brentford XI: Raya, Dalsgaard, Jansson, Pinnock, Henry, Danelt, Dasilva, Jensen, Mbueno, Canos, Toney.

Subs: Daniels, Thompson, Emiliano, Forss, Goddos, Fosu, Sorensen, Gilbert, Stevens.

Bournemouth XI: Begovic, Smith, Kelly, S Cook (capt), Simpson, L Cook, Lerma, Billing, Brooks, Stanislas, Solanke.

Subs: Travers, Rico, Ofoborh, Gosling, Kilkenny, Riquelme, Anthony, King, Surridge.

Almost the end of a turbulent and in many ways, entertaining 2020 in the Championship.

We've had season suspensions, restarts, dramatic final-day survivals and promotions, and a nail-biting play-off final before more of the same with goals and incident galore in the new campaign.

This evening, two more fixtures round off the calendar year with four sides jostling for position and advantage in the top six.

It all starts in west London before a trip along the M4 to South Wales and here's what's on the bill:

    • Brentford v Bournemouth (17:30 GMT)
    • Swansea City v Reading (20:00 GMT)
