More madness in the game at the Pirelli Stadium between Burton and Wigan.

Harrogate had managed to get this game on after fans came down to help clear snow from the pitch but, with 10 minutes played, the referee has decided that the pitch is unsafe to play on and abandoned the League Two game.

The hosts were 1-0 up through Connor Kirby's first-minute goal, and a few of their players were visibly very angry with the decision.

Stoke know a win tonight will take them into the play-off places, with sixth-placed Reading not in action until tomorrow.

Michael O'Neill's men are four unbeaten in the league, although they have drawn three of those games.

The Potters' recent success has been built on a strong defence which has kept four consecutive clean sheets and a total of 12 in their 21 Championship games this season.

Visitors Nottingham Forest are three unbeaten, drawing the past two.

But Chris Hughton's men have only won one of their past 10, and are two points above the bottom three after Derby's convincing win at Birmingham in the early kick-off.

MK Dons are 2-0 up at Swindon with Daniel Harvie doubling the visitors' advantage.

  15. More than meets the eye in midtable clashpublished at 19:36 Greenwich Mean Time 29 December 2020

    Huddersfield v Blackburn (19:45 GMT)

    BlackburnImage source, Rex Features

Two teams firmly ensconced in midtable meet at.. wait, come back!

Although these trans-Peninne rivals might be some way clear of relegation dangers and some way off troubling the top six this could still prove to be one of the games of the day.

Tony Mowbray's Rovers are the division's joint highest scorers and, in forward Adam Armstrong, boast the league's second top scorer.

Huddersfield are playing some impressive stuff under Marcelo Bielsa disciple Carlos Corberan and the Spaniard has made them a force at home, where they have won their past four games.

  16. goal

GOAL: Sheff Wed 1-0 Middlesbroughpublished at 19:33 Greenwich Mean Time 29 December 2020

  17. Time for Robins to get rocking?published at 19:32 Greenwich Mean Time 29 December 2020

Luton v Bristol City (19:45 GMT)

    Nahki WellsImage source, Rex Features

It's often been a case of two steps forward, one step back for play-off chasing Bristol City this season.

Dean Holden's men have won 10 of their 21 matches, as many as fourth-placed Brentford.

However, they've also lost eight matches, the same as 18th-placed Coventry.

Hosts Luton have also lost eight of their 21 games but boss Nathan Jones has made them hard to beat at Kenilworth Road and they'll be looking to claim another notable scalp after beating leaders Norwich at home earlier this month.

  19. Preston look to put an end to homesicknesspublished at 19:28 Greenwich Mean Time 29 December 2020

    Preston v Coventry (19:45 GMT)

    Alex NeilImage source, Rex Features

How Preston must long to have fans back in at Deepdale.

The Lancastrians have won just three of their 10 home games so far this campaign in stark contrast to six successes on their travels.

If they could start recording some victories at home they could yet force their way into play-off contention this season.

Looking to stop them from doing that are a Coventry side who effectively play all their games away from home.

The Sky Blues are in a second season of sharing Birmingham City's St Andrews ground for their home games.

  20. Derby move out of relegation zonepublished at 19:26 Greenwich Mean Time 29 December 2020

    FT: Birmingham 0-4 Derby

    Bottom sixImage source, .

That victory takes Derby out of the bottom three for the first time since October.

The Rams might return to the relegation zone later if Nottingham Forest and Rotherham both win.

But Forest have one win in 10 and Rotherham one win in eight.

Birmingham have now lost four of their past five in a winless run which leaves them seven points above danger.
