Scott McTominay has had a good season, he knows that he is going to be playing, which is a great confidence boost for a young player. He's very competitive, his positional sense is very good. He is now a number one pick for Manchester United.

While we wait for some reaction from Old Trafford, here's a recap of some of today's earlier results:

League One Blackpool produced one of the biggest shocks of the third round by beating West Brom on penalties, while non-league Chorley eliminated a youthful Derby side that had been affected by Covid-19.

Premier League West Brom lost 3-2 on penalties after the two sides had drawn 2-2 after extra time to complete a miserable return to Bloomfield Road for Baggies boss Sam Allardyce, who used to manage Blackpool.

And Lancashire part-timers Chorley overcame the depleted Championship club Derby 2-0 at Victory Park, the National League North side's third victory over English Football League opposition in this season's competition.

    Full round-up here.

We have seen Man United play a lot better but they are in the hat. It was there for Watford to ask the questions but it just didn't happen.

    Man Utd 1-0 Watford

Certainly not a memorable one. Manchester United are through to the fourth round though. Watford are out of the FA Cup.

Last chance? Will Hughes is brought down by Scott McTominay.

Free-kick to Watford... Hits Anthony Martial. Waste.

Juan Mata takes it and probably wants to forget it quickly...

Man United have had little spells at the start of the first half and start of the second half but apart from that they have been one-paced, a lack of options, the system isn't working. But Watford haven't tested Dean Henderson enough.

    Man Utd 1-0 Watford

Anthony Martial wins a free-kick for Man Utd just outside the Watford box. Marcus Rashford fancies it and so does Juan Mata and Alex Telles.

    Simon: Kenny Samson

    Marc: Howard Kendall

Ankur: Although a man under supporter, I can recall 1 famous rival neighbor footballer "Kenny Daglish"

Alistair: Surely 80s England legend Kenny Sansom should be the first Ken on the list!

David: Kenneth Dougall, currently playing in midfield for Blackpool. Played today vs West Brom.

Liam: What about the Brazilian wonderkid Kenedy? Some how he's still on Chelsea's books. Late bloomer maybe?

Right, we are sure to get a loooooong list of Kens at this rate. At least everyone is getting straight to the point with their posts...

Watford haven't really created a proper chance. United look set to see this out and Dean Henderson will take his time.

This is all about the result but the performance has not been great by Manchester United. Ole Gunnar Solskjaer will know that but it's about the win.

They have been so sloppy tonight but to give Watford credit, they have turned up and they have had a go, working hard for a new manager.

For the players that have come in for Manchester United tonight, I don't think they can go knocking on the manager's door.

Joseph Hungbo drives at Alex Telles and cuts inside of Nemanja Matic. The two end up clashing - Matic was very static - and Hungbo runs into him. He wins a free-kick but it's easy for Dean Henderson from Ken Sema.

Nick, Kent: Ben you just triggered a great memory. Kenny Hibbit 1974 opening goal versus Man City League Cup final - King John got the winner!

Adrian, Worcester: How about Birmingham City legend Kenny Cunningham? (Could do with him tomorrow vs. Man City).

    Paolo: Ken Dalglish? Ken Samson?

Dan: Not forgetting former Middlesbrough loanee Kenneth Omeruo.

More of a 'Kenny' for Dalglish and Samson, Paolo.

The Watford bench spent a good 60 seconds telling Nathaniel Chalobah to go down so they could make the substitution.

He heads into the stands clutching his hamstring.

Robin: Surely that must be the end of Lingard at Man United. Very poor as usual & just doesn't fit in & try anymore.

Michael: Harry Maguire must be setting a record for how much headers he wins in the opposition box with efforts off target

Zak: If I had £1 every time Maguire has headed off target from a set piece I could afford his transfer fee.
