Burnley have a free-kick and all the usual suspects go up. It's half-cleared a couple of times and ends with Ben Mee shooting high and wide from distance.

Lucas Digne has now made 16 assists in the Premier League for Everton; since the start of the 2018-19 season, the only defenders with more are Liverpool pair Andy Robertson (28) and Trent Alexander-Arnold (27).

Everton again focus their attacks down the flank through Digne but this time his cross is headed back to Rui Patricio by Ruben Neves.

Burnley are getting some joy with diagonal balls. Johann Gudmundsson whips in a cross which Chris Wood heads into the path of Ashley Barnes, but the former Oxford United loanee is crowded out by Harry Maguire and Eric Bailly.

United have had most of the ball - pretty much all of it - since that early Robbie Brady shot - but mostly around defence and midfield.

Newcastle United

Newcastle manager Steve Bruce to BBC Sport: "I've got no issues with the red card - we can't argue with that and you can't argue with how poor we are in the first half.

"But the penalty baffles me. The referee got it spot on in real time. It hit [Fernandez's] hand but it's not intentional. It could have been a foul on him as well.

"VAR is supposed to be for clear and obvious decisions. How someone 300 miles away on a TV screen can overturn it is beyond me.

"You know when the referee goes to the screen it will be a penalty - it's pathetic. It's beyond me.

"And then there's a horror challenge by Billy Sharp, that should be a straight red card. It's blatant. They didn't check it. It's laughable the whole VAR situation and I don't think anyone enjoys it.

"I'm struggling to cope with it. Week in week out, it's ruining the game."

Wolves are looking to end a run of four games without a win in the Premier League and they will likely fancy their chances against an Everton side playing without a recognised striker.

The hosts have enjoyed the majority of possession so far but no chances, or even the hint of one, yet for either side.

Burnley's Ashley Westwood took the kick-off as normal and forgot to take a knee.

Luckily he got a second chance to take a knee and then kick off.

Burnley have a half-chance within 30 seconds but Robbie Brady half-volleys over the bar.

Sheffield United

Sheffield United boss Chris Wilder to BBC Sport: "[186 days without a win...] I have been counting! Every minute of every hour of every day! It feels good, I'm delighted. We should have got more results, we know that, but the performance was good.

"We played with the identity that has been the way we have played for the last few years. I should imagine the sending off and the penalty will be talked about but in my opinion we were value for the victory tonight.

"Everybody needs a bit of luck. But it wasn't an outrageous stroke of fortune. The performance was good, considering the position we are in.

"We've had a load of tight games and we'll take it. I was looking for my car keys and to take up another sport if we'd thrown it away in added time...

"I might have a glass in my own bubble tonight."

Manchester United

Manchester United manager Ole Gunnar Solskjaer to Sky Sports: "The incentive is to win and get three points and to just be your best when you can play. We never think past this game, you can't.

"A lot has been written and said about our position but that comes when it comes."

On making 10 changes and having Edinson Cavani back: "This is a team with load of fresh legs which is important. But you have to earn the right to win here. Physical statute is always going to be important. We just have to keep going.

"Getting Edison back after three games is good. It will be a good for him to sample proper English football."

This is Burnley's first Premier League game since ALK Capital completed their takeover of the club.

Owner, US businessman Alan Pace, has already made an impact, unveiling a plan to scout young players through a bespoke App.

In his programme notes tonight, Pace has answered media speculation about the financial structure of the deal through which he bought the Clarets.

"While the details and figures quoted by some sections of the national media are wide of the mark, I realise that some supporters may worry about the impact the takeover may have on the club’s cash reserves," he said.

"I would like to reiterate, with a hand on my heart, that our financial approach is reasonable and sustainable for the club."

Burnley are starting to pull away from the bottom three and starting to keep clean sheets. Not conceding many goals, they lost narrowly at Leeds and kept a clean sheet against Arsenal, Aston Villa and Sheffield United. There's not as much pressure on Chris Wood and Ashley Barnes to score two or three goals in order for them to win games.

Nick Pope is looking strong at the back and they're looking a lot more like themselves.

Newcastle United

Newcastle keeper Karl Darlow to Sky Sports: "Performance wise we were nowhere near. We didn't get going, they played the better football before the red card. We need to sort that out.

"There can be no excuses. We need to come here and do the business. Talk is cheap, we need to show more on the pitch that the fans can be proud of. It's back to the drawing board.

"We needed to put more pressure on, they were fighting for their lives. We haven't delivered what we said in the changing room, on the training pitch.

"We didn't get hold of the ball."
