"My initial thoughts were as Mings played the ball, it wasn't a deliberate play on the ball, so therefore, didn't play the player onside.

"However, the law says: 'A player in an offisde position, receiving the ball from an opponent who deliberately plays the ball, is NOT to be considered to have gained an advantage.'

"Therefore, Mings playing the ball deliberately - and we can see that he does that when he chests the ball - plays the Manchester City player onside, even though he is in an offside position. So therefore, the goal should stand.

"Rodri wasn't gaining an advantage by being where he was, that's the law and the fact that Mings makes a deliberate play on the ball, negates the fact that the player was in an offside position."

Manchester United have taken control of the game now and are looking the most likely to get a second as Anthony Martial's header is deflected behind for another corner.

Luke: What a shocking goal from Fulham to concede. Sickening for the players that the GK gifted a poor United performance a way back into the game.

There were warning signs for Fulham, who had started brightly but seemed to drop further and further back after scoring the opener. They need to get back to the positive, attacking football they played in the first 10 minutes.

Manchester United have a free kick just inside the Fulham half and Luke Shaw sends it into the box but again the home defence deals with it.

Luke Shaw launches the ball into the box for Manchester United. It's driven and dangerous and Fulham take no risks, putting it behind for a corner, which comes to nothing.

This game is a big opportunity for Mason Greenwood. He hasn't scored since 5 December and has been quiet so far in this one with a handful of touches of the ball.

Fulham have lost more Premier League games (four) than they have won (three) when scoring first against Manchester United.

Almost a quarter of an hour gone and the home side are looking comfortable, though.

Manchester City boss Pep Guardiola to MOTD: "I had the feeling we controlled the game. The top four players they have, player like Jack Grealish and Rosss Barkley, the feeling is that wow, you feel the dangers in every actions.

"We arrived at the byline many times but could not score the goal but Bernando Silva was there and his goal made the difference.

"We struggled against Brighton in the last game - they are one of the best teams for creating chances, so it has been hard for us. Maybe they are not clinical but they are good.

"It was 5-7 minutes where Aston Villa had two or three chances. When they can run with the likes of Ollie Watkins, Jack Grealish, Ross Barkley but we make actions and control the passes.

On whether the first goal was offside: "We didn't see it but there is VAR. It is here. I'm not going to analyse the game but in against a top team we have come up with a brilliant performance."

Plenty of possession for Fulham at the moment. They look a much more confident side on the ball these days but they need to start turning draws into wins sooner rather than later.
