Seth: Exactly how many clear cut chances from corner-kicks does Maguire need to score? This is incredible and shocking, especially when you consider he's captain.

Ruaidhir: Harry Maguire is good at getting the ball to hit his head. He is not good at heading the ball.

  6. 'Silva goal was onside - according the offside rules'published at 20:47 Greenwich Mean Time 20 January 2021

FT: Manchester City 2-0 Aston Villa

Here's what former Premier League referee Peter Walton made of Manchester City's first goal on BT Sport:

"My initial thoughts were as Mings played the ball, it wasn't a deliberate play on the ball, so therefore, didn't play the player onside.

"However, the law says: 'A player in an offisde position, receiving the ball from an opponent who deliberately plays the ball, is NOT to be considered to have gained an advantage.'

"Therefore, Mings playing the ball deliberately - and we can see that he does that when he chests the ball - plays the Manchester City player onside, even though he is in an offside position. So therefore, the goal should stand.

"Rodri wasn't gaining an advantage by being where he was, that's the law and the fact that Mings makes a deliberate play on the ball, negates the fact that the player was in an offside position."

Michael Reid: Bruno is looking like he's on a mission to prove his doubters wrong... After having 1 or 2 bad game's all season...

Babyboomer: Looks like tonight could be Man Utd are going for flicks, back heels & passes without looking. Very fancy when they come off - about 1 in 100.

Luke: What a shocking goal from Fulham to concede. Sickening for the players that the GK gifted a poor United performance a way back into the game.

    Fulham 1-1 Man Utd

There were warning signs for Fulham, who had started brightly but seemed to drop further and further back after scoring the opener. They need to get back to the positive, attacking football they played in the first 10 minutes.

  12. goal

GOAL - Fulham 1-1 Man Utdpublished at 21 mins

    Edinson Cavani

    The visitors are level!

Bruno Fernandes has been very quiet but comes alive at the crucial time as, moments after hitting the post with a shot, he whips in a good cross that Alphonse Areola fumbles and Edinson Cavani pounces to stab in.

Luke Shaw launches the ball into the box for Manchester United. It's driven and dangerous and Fulham take no risks, putting it behind for a corner, which comes to nothing.

This game is a big opportunity for Mason Greenwood. He hasn't scored since 5 December and has been quiet so far in this one with a handful of touches of the ball.

    Fulham 1-0 Man Utd

Fulham have lost more Premier League games (four) than they have won (three) when scoring first against Manchester United.

Almost a quarter of an hour gone and the home side are looking comfortable, though.

  17. PENALTY APPEALpublished at 10 mins

    Fulham 1-0 Man Utd

    Oooh, is this a penalty?

Fred goes down inside the box under a challenge by Ruben Loftus-Cheek. It looks like Loftus-Cheek caught Fred in the back of the leg but the referee isn't interested and VAR backs his decision up.

Paul Pogba is then booked as he stops a quick Fulham counter.

  18. 'It was a brilliant performance'published at 20:25 Greenwich Mean Time 20 January 2021

FT: Manchester City 2-0 Aston Villa

    Manchester City

Manchester City boss Pep Guardiola to MOTD: "I had the feeling we controlled the game. The top four players they have, player like Jack Grealish and Rosss Barkley, the feeling is that wow, you feel the dangers in every actions.

"We arrived at the byline many times but could not score the goal but Bernando Silva was there and his goal made the difference.

"We struggled against Brighton in the last game - they are one of the best teams for creating chances, so it has been hard for us. Maybe they are not clinical but they are good.

"It was 5-7 minutes where Aston Villa had two or three chances. When they can run with the likes of Ollie Watkins, Jack Grealish, Ross Barkley but we make actions and control the passes.

On whether the first goal was offside: "We didn't see it but there is VAR. It is here. I'm not going to analyse the game but in against a top team we have come up with a brilliant performance."

    Ademola Lookman

Perfect start for the home side!

Ademola Lookman times a run for a André Zambo Anguissa ball over the top to perfection, the Manchester United defence appears to wait for the linesman's flag to go up but it doesn't and Lookman strides towards goal before driving a good finish into the far corner.

    Fulham 0-0 Man Utd

Plenty of possession for Fulham at the moment. They look a much more confident side on the ball these days but they need to start turning draws into wins sooner rather than later.
